Totally agree with you sara.... even if I have desserts outside now.. I compare them to what I can make at home...and also if I like something I eat outside... I try to find a recipe that I can make at home...... gotta love baking...
This cake is soo delicious, its one of my favourites to make. Its the best when you make it a day in advance and let it sit in the fridge for a day…then it will be soo moist and gooey delicious…mmmm…I also add a bit more water than the recipe calls for and cut the oil back to 3/4 cup. Everyone always loooves this cake, its a must for chocolate lovers! I usually bake it in a 9x13 or make it in two 9 inch pans for a layered cake

I have experimented with different flavors of cake mixes/pudding/chips and had wonderful results. Fudge cake/choc pudding/choc mint chips. Carmel cake/butterscotch pudding/butterscotch chips. Cherry cake mix/vanilla pudding/cherry chips. Fudge cake/choc pudding/peanut butter chips (this one was awesome!). This is my standard cake now I make for everything. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

I want to find those cake mixes!!!!! IU have yet to see these in the grocery shelves!
I usually make it with the chocolate fudge cake mix, not devils food cake. Ive never seen caramel either, but cherry and fudge are pretty common. If they arent in your grocery store, try another; not all stores keep all the varieties
Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide
Has anyone tried the orange cake mix? I can't remember if its Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines but paired with chocolate frosting, milk or dark, it is DIVINE!

Ok i need to get myself to some different stores....

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide
The orange cake mix is Duncan Hines, Sara516 you should try Duncan Hines line of cake mixes, they have a huge variety
mmmm looks divine! ![]()
I would really love to find some recipes that are for smaller quantities…based on past experiences, halving everything to proportions is so tricky and with not very good results.
Okay. ill try to look for it. I have a few cake mixes sitting, some are DH and some are Betty crocker. always gud stuff!
Do any of you guys play around with your box mixes? like add different ingredients and stuff to make something totall of your own? Theres quite a few recipes that use cake mixes but ask for other ingredients as well.. ![]()
Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide
I have never done anything totally on my own....always look for inspiration elsewhere....but I actually came across The Cake Mix Doctor book, which had loads of recipes that use cake mixes....a lot of inspiration can be drawn from that one book

Hello ladies,
AOA
Long time since i have been on here. Sorry for not staying in touch. Been busy with lil sonny and family and not to forget have been busy baking. I attach 2 pics of what i baked in the last month. Got 3 more to bake in the next 2 weeks…yikes!

The above is carrot cake with white choc buttercream.
Also, i have just been asked by a friend to bake her niece a birthday cake. Problem is that she is allergic to nuts, eggs and dairy so its a huge huge risk!!
Do you guys think i should do it even if i watch out for everything? Work surfaces clean etc. I managed to find dairy, nut and egg free cake recipe. Plus i managed to find dairy free butter, dairy free chocolate.
Risky?
Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide
Oh bazuka - it didnt upload the 2nd pic...will try again through imageshack! The 2nd one is lemon and lime cake with lemon and lime buttercream frosting as you can see some rind pieces in the icing...haha!
