Re: Baked Pakorey??
Flattened pakorays are possible...dipped in fresh spinach leaves...
Or fry them in olive oil...
Re: Baked Pakorey??
Doubt they will taste the same. I tried baking samosas last yr and they didnt taste half as good as the fried ones. If u bake pakoras they may turn out a little too dry. besides by the time the inside of the pakora gets cooked the outside may turn too hard. u would have to experiment with them till u get them right, if ever!
Re: Baked Pakorey??
It's too bad pakoray have to be deep fried but Ramadan isn't Ramadan without them :) Maybe if you underfry 'em a bit and then bake them it will help get more of the oil out.
Re: Baked Pakorey??
I know you cant no beat deep frying. ANYTHING that you deep fry always trun out good. I would say even if you deep fry the OIL, it will become tasty ! :)
BUT I was just wondering if we can cut a thin potatoes and dip in thin layer of besan, can we bake it or not (chaloo half the taste hee sahee) , i might give it a try over the weekend unless someone has experience to share
Re: Baked Pakorey??
^ hey did u tried this do tell us if it works
Re: Baked Pakorey??
I did and pakorey went pretty good.
I used the same masalas liken besen ko thora GARHA (semi liquid) rakha tha and i added 1/4 tsp of baking powrder too. I only tried AALOO k pakorey and kept the aaloo cutlets thin. With green and Imlli chatnee it went pretty well.
I used toaster oven, sprayed olive oil on the baking tray…did one side of pakoras, spray again and did other side.
We all know (and its quite obvious) that BAKED Pakorey can not be compared in taste with DEEP FRIED Pakorey so don’t expect anything near to the friend one (but then you cant compare the calories too
)
Re: Baked Pakorey??

Re: Baked Pakorey??
How about a pakora pie in an oven...just give a try...totally greaseless...but the taste they say...I guess... :D
Re: Baked Pakorey??
