They are conducting an operation on who to sign a deal with.

Your disappointments are showing in your posts. First the Pak army will not be able to clear Swat. When they did it was Meshud and Hakeemullah are not dead and now again your hatred shows. Time to wake up and get a life. Despite your crying Pak will move forward and wipe out these terrorists.

Are you kidding me? I am the biggest proponent of taking out all the talib/jihadi networks in Pakistan not just the chosen few deemed "indian/american/israeli" agents. There is still a long way to go to even clear swat, as many of the terrorists moved into neighboring districts and are regrouping there because the army was not able to block their retreating positions. There top leaders are still mostly alive, btu the army is busy spending money on expensive submarines instead of gearing up for full scale anti terror war.
As per Pakistan army … they are “short of equipment” … and will take them months for action …

‘Pakistan needs ‘months’ for Waziristan push’
**** SSG chief says army short of right kind of equipment *
**ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will need months to prepare for a ground offensive against the Taliban in South Waziristan, said a senior army commander on Tuesday, citing equipment shortages.
After briefing US special envoy Richard Holbrooke on operations against the Taliban, Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed told reporters the Pakistan Army was trying to create the “right” conditions for a full-blown offensive in South Waziristan by imposing a tight blockade on entry and exit points and by pounding Taliban targets from the air. “It’s going to take months”, and possibly beyond the coming winter, said Ahmed, adding that military leaders would decide on the timing. Ahmed said the Pakistani army was now focused on “choking” off supplies to Taliban in South Waziristan.
He said Pakistan was attacking Taliban with planes, helicopters and artillery with the goal of “wearing them out” before ground forces go in. “Once you feel that the conditions are right … you go in for a ground offensive,” said Ahmed. He said the army was also short of “the right kind of equipment” to mount a large-scale ground operation. reuters

^^^ This is really hard to swallow. Pakistan army has equipment to take on India but don't have equipment to take on a militia that have no air power, armor or artillery? That is a lot of hot air coming from supposedly one of the best equipped army in the world.

Pakistan is widely suspected to lack the supplies for more than 2-4 weeks of full-scale war with India. That's one of the reasons why the nuclear weapon development was such a priority, because we needed to discourage India from protracted conflict in particular.
I would not be surprised if the many months of war in the FATA has similarly drained supplies to a low enough level that the army needs to reserve them in case of war with India.
Given that the army is quoting a lack of "equipment" now, but had enough "equipment" before for offensives, I think that "equipment" means ammunition and possibly fuel.

I dont think they want to spend all their resources on WAZIRISTAN.. Its common sense.
There is a reason why most of the Army is still on the Eastern front. Pakistan needs to ration its resources. If it were to send valuable resources on a realtively softer yet still difficult target in S Waziristan, they would end up being to weak to counter a potential threat from the real enemy to the east.
They simply dont want to spread out too thin.
Also, in waiting for equipment from the US, they can get high quality stuff to replenish their already existing resources.

^ And it is really hard to identify 'enemy' there in those areas.
Re: Baitullah Mehsud dead:)
The story is not ended.
This is a war for money started in era of ZIA
aliban killed Mehsud father in law, family: Malik Updated at: 1724 PST, Sunday, August 23, 2009
ISLAMABAD: The Taliban insurgents have killed Baitullah Mehsud’s father in law and some other people on suspicion of their involvement in the killing of their former chief, claimed Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik here on Sunday.
In interview to a British news channel, Rehman Malik said he is making the above claim on the basis of the kind of information on which he disclosed the news of the death of former chief of banned Tehree-e-Taliban Pakistan, Baitullah Mehsud.
So far the claim could not have been confirmed from the Taliban or any independent source.
He confirmed that Baitullah Mehsud is dead and added that it can be part of a policy of the government not to confirm 100 percent the news of his death.
According to sources, the Taliban had taken arrested Baitullah Mehsud’s father in law Ikramuddin, his son Ziauddin, brother Saeedullah and nephew Iqbal Mehsud on charges of spying against the TTP chief.
Maulana Ikram-ud-Din, father in law of Baitullah was also his close aid and working as coordinator between Baitullah and people coming to meet him outside Taliban organizational structure.
The Taliban had gunned down Mehsud’s driver for spying soon after the drone attack killed Baitullah Mehsud.
Re: Baitullah Mehsud dead:)
So BM is dead or close to death, whichever you believe, bout what the whole talib/jihadi network in the country? That still remains intact and entire areas of north west under their grip. At the very least we should start taking the fight to their areas on the ground, since it will be a long fought war.
Sure, it shows the brutality of the Taliban. But what is truly nonsensical is the fact that you are avoiding a question that you have troubles stomaching like a bulimic, regarding as to why the poppy cultivation in Afghanistan sky-rocketed following the NATO invasion, and since then, continues to do so.
More and more pointless accusations, based on nothing. What does Jews have anything to do with what is being discussed? Are you a Jew? Do you feel the need to bring in this anti-semitic referrence in every discussion which you cannot handle? Pathetic!
Again you are avoiding a simple question by adding non-relevant, paralygic points of contention. Why does the US media no longer speak of Osama (the guy after whom the whole war was started)? They don’t focus much on him anymore, rather on TTP and Pakistan. That is a fact. Its pretty obvious that they’ve stopped looking for him and even stopped trying to eliminate the Taliban from Afghanistan, considering the fact that the rag-tag Taliban still control half of the country. Where is that liberation gone now?
9/11 or Iraq war have nothing to do with Baitullah Mehsud's death anyways. Lets just get back to the Indian martyr, shall we?
Brother, do U honestly feel that Osama,Baitullah, Zawahiri, Ikramuddin, Sufi, Hafiz Saeed, Maulana Azhar, and Co. are uncircumcised hindus smuggled to Pakistan by RAW to defame Pakistan and Islam?
Besides the usual blame the jew and hindu nonsense, what proof do you have that these guys are being financed by israel and india?
Proof is that all those so called talibs are uncircumcised, so may be their counterparts in Afganistan and their sympathethizers like Maulana Fazlu and company. they all are Mushrik Hindus praying to Idols and having wine before dinner. RAW agents have infested badly in Pakistani society. How pathetic.
Sarcasm?
Re: Baitullah Mehsud dead:)
ok so anybody heard today's NEWS (jang.com.pk) its saying He is not dead according to the Taliban's Spokesmen and co.
Re: Baitullah Mehsud dead:)
^ so they hired a new spokesman now? because the older spokesman had confirmed the death ![]()
Now that their leader is dead and the organization is in disarray, why is the Pakistan army not going forward with a ground offensive and wipe these animals out completely?
If Pak-Army invades them at this stage, chances are, they might get united for their own survival, the best strategy to deal with them is to create and florish these disagreements between them... this will not let them unit and they will kill each other to death....
It’s even better than that. After Bajaur operation when Maulvi Omer ran away and hid, he became very depressed (from a journalist who talked to him after loesam fell) and rarely talked to media afterwards. During this time Muslim Khan and Hakeemullah Mehsud and some other clowns were speaking on behalf of the TTP the most. After Malvi Omer was captured, Muslim Khan became spokesman for a day but was replaced by Azam Tariq as Muslim Khan “did not have access to phone facilities”. In between Maulvi Shakir/Fakir was also spokesmen and chief for few days, while now Waliur Rehman may be the chief after Hakeemullah got knocked down.
