I’m wondering what info anyone here has on Bahai-ullah, the founder of the Bahai faith?
As in background information - where did he grow up, how did he come to find that he was a “prophet” and what proof other scholars at the time may have had that he was a false prophet, if at all?
Stage 1: The Shi'a split
Stage 2: The Shaykhi split
Stage 3: Leader of Shaykhis Kazim was searching for a Qa'im
Stage 4: Mulla Husayn inherited the position of his teacher Kazim
Stage 5: Mullah Husayn got a spiritual experience by something known as the Bab (door)
Stage 6: Eventually Babi'sm was born where believers of it held that the Bab was a manifestation of God - (which eventually led to shirk)
Stage 7: Siyyid Ali Muhammad claimed to be the Bab
Stage 8: Babism broke away from Islam as a separate religion
Stage 9: To cut a long story short Bahaullah was the person who claimed to be the channel and a prophet and led a break away from Babism.
The reason why he may not have been challenged is because the factions from which he came was already a heavily adulterated form of religion that the orthodox people may not have given much attention to. Also he came from a sect that openly negated Islam and openly believed in matters opposing the creed of Islam.
Bahaullah was follower of Bab when he was put in prision by Turkish ruler, thats where he declared himself as a prophet and started the Baha'i religon. Now the central command is in Israel.

I do not remember too much about Bahai faith. I think one reason he appeals to the prophecy minded is the fact that he claimed he was sent by God to announce the return of the Jews to Israel. Soon after his death, of course, Israel was born and the rest is history.
