I was not into designer bags but recently joined work and 2 of my colleagues wear louis vuitton bags, now dont know if its the real thing but as they wear it everyday, it must be.
Now the dilemma I am starting to like the bags too, its goes well with any cloths and well its a statement.
I have no idea how much it costs, must be costly right and if there is a way to get it cheaper, like on sales ect…

I love bags...as in love them.
Either save up and buy them two-three times a year
or
If you buy one, you can always sell it once you're done and reinvest the money in your next one...usually you get at least half price for used bags
or
You can look at upscale resale shops...you'll find some amazing finds there too at times

I'm all for saving up and investing in 1 or 2 expensive designer handbags a year than spending money on high street brands which ultimately do add up too! Keep an eye on department store websites (USA: Macys, Bloomingdales etc UK: Harrods, Harvey Nichols) or online boutiques such as The Outnet and Net a Porter, they often have sales though they normally do not carry brands such as Louis Vuitton/Gucci/Chanel. They are generally only available on their brand websites and in store. You'll find designers such as Micheal Kors, Marc Jacobs, Guess, DKNY, Chloe...etc etc

Gucci have 2 sales a year in store and online LV however do not.

Another option is to find an outlet stores for the high end brands. There is an outlet mall near me that has Kate Spade, Cole Haan, Coach etc. and that’s where I usually buy my bags.
However, there is an outlet mall in San Marcos, Texas (a few hours from me) that has Fendi, Gucci, Prada, Ferragamo etc. One of these days I’m going to make it there to see how good their inventory is.

It can vary but i think for gucci its normally 20 to 40% of their seasonal bags

Louis never ever go on sale, Gucci yes you can get 30% sometimes even for 40% off
Depends on what style of LV you want, top handles starting at $800 which are very common among girls, the shoulder/totes are higher up in the range of $1,000 and up
