Baglihar Dam

Assalamoalaekum all fellow group members,

I am a new member of this forum and would like to introduce myself.

I am a mechanical engineer from NED university Karachi and am now doing PhD in management from the University of Bath.

Being thousands of miles away from Pakistan I, like others, am quite worried by the current situation of Pakistan. Among other issues, the issue of Baglihar Dam is what I want to discuss here. India has violated the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) in the past and has once again reduced the water flow in Chenab to an unfair level. The rice crop which will be affected by this water shortage may cause a loss of up to $3 billion to Pakistan as told be Dawn. I, currently living in Bristol am planning to run a media awareness campaign about this issue to pressurize India to release the water.

I would appreciate any suggestions my Pakistani brothers have for me.

Wassalam

Najam

Re: Baglihar Dam

India has violated the IWT, but the world bank etc have backed her up. Not much can be done. They are organized enough to build dams, we just talk about it.
