here is a short video, where Dr Israr Ahmed is stating the conversation between Allama Iqbal and Masolini
A Hades That Astonished Masolini when Iqbal quotes it - Frequency
When Iqbal told Masolini that the Prophet (SAW) had said that they will built a new city, if Madina extended beyond certain boundaries. Masolini was quite impressed as he knew the importance of this in city planing.
Today, we hear many issues that are part and parcel of big cities ranging from traffic jams to street crimes and turf wars.
Considering the above, where would you prefer to live? small towns or big cities?
small town all the way...i've lived in small village, small cities all my life...i hate big cities for the reasons you mentioned, traffic, crime, unfriendly people, not knowing your neighbor etc
Problems are everywhere we can't escape from them. It's a natural attachement with the place where you were born and grew up.
apart from natural attachment and for solving the problems of big cities you live, do you agree that cities should not be expanded behind a certain limit?
I agree with micro that there is always an emotional attachment with a place whether it's a big city/small and both have their own charms. I can adjust in both.
Who cares about our personal likings.Expansion is the requirement of ever growing karachi population.
But everyone wishes something for the place he/she lives. Every city got its own culture and lifestyle and its not stagnant over the period. Read in many books that Karachi used to be a clean and manageable city prior to partition and in initial decades after partition. The situation is quite different now.
