There have been threads about this topic before, but during this ICC Trophy we have seen some masterpieces of bad umpiring again.
Most of all in the Australia vs. New Zealand match where 3 batsmen from New Zealand were given LBW, one was doubtful and the other two were definitely not out.
So after Shepherd in the Pak vs. Aus match it´s now Bucknor/Koertzen in Aus vs. Nzl
It´s high time for the ICC to do some serious rethinking about who should be in the Elite panel and who not.
Technology is flawed in it's current shape. The best judge for an LBW is still the Umpire 22 yards away. It's not the commentators sitting 50 ft high and 90 yards out. Nor the fans watching on TV.
Once you introduce technology, there will be a stoppage on virtually every ball.
By the way, LBW is one of the easiest decisions for umpires. It is the faint snick to the keeper that's hard to judge.
What's the common denominator in these 2 cases? Seems like everybody from commentators to umpires are so overawed by the Aussies, they feel they can never be wrong.

If an umpire can consult technology about issues like 'if ball pitched on leg stump' or if the ball was going high then there wont be many stoppages. If umpire is not sure that it pitched in line, why not consult.
Yes, getting carried away with the technology is another thing but there are glaring deficiencies which can be overcome using technology. I am sure ICC realizes it and thats why they are using minimal technology for starters.

I don't know about you, but I for one would definitely prefer a FAIR game and am willing to tolerate the few seconds of delay due to a consultation with the 3rd umpire every now and then.

Ditto. And for that you need umpires who have to courage to direct such a decision to the 3rd one if they are not 100% sure. Shepherd and Bucknor are definitely not of that type.
