Bad experience with Hajra Hayat

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

Never been a fan of Hajra's clothes. Her designs are nothing special, look at her collection, I am sure even the kaamwalas can EASILY replicate her designs and do a better job. I cannot stand her two toned bridal dupattas especially- the ones that have diagonal lines on them. And now it seems she needs lessons on customer service as well.

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

^ agree with shay.
and i REALLY hate two tone dupattas/kameezes.....

Wow how totally unprofessional!! I remember another guppy had also posted some e-mail messages from HH or her manager Rubina or someone and it was sooo unprofessional!!! What are these people trying to pull!!!!

They are the WORST. Look at her bridal, the two toned dupattas look like those georgette types you wear for a casual outfit, totally spoils the entire bridal look.

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

omg what a horrible horrible woman! i hope something horrible happens to her (business)!

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

Yeh her outfits aren't anything special and look even duller in person; looks like rags sewn together, atleast most of the ones i saw.

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

jal_pari, i'm hoping to see the outfit myself in the next couple of weeks so will definitely try and post pictures.

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

I have recently joined thsi forum and have been reading all ur entries i really feel so bad that this happened to lara and alot of u guys. Yaar thsi happened to me too by a designer called sheha chatoor shes damn expensive and u hardly get any work just teh style she gives u. She made me an outfit that was not my size and since we both live in karachi i called her told her guard teh details and was then allowed to talk to the madam herself who told me thsi was the size and she couldnt help me any further kaput kapeesh so i guess these ppl are like that.
IAfter that i discovered thsi amazing girl who does fabulous outfits semiformal, casual, formals and bridals in whatever range u give her , u guys must try her.

My gosh! I am just getting this story now of the messed up valima outfit. I feel so bad. $1,900 is a lot of money.

Please do keep emailing HH. I had received kurtis with very poor stitching. The whole thread with pics is in Bazaar section. I kept emailing both Rabeela and Hajra and they said to send them back at my expense and they would repair them. I felt it was not right for me to fork over shipping money to let them fix their mistakes. They found out about my posting on this site and Rabeela posted on here and basically they make you feel like you are a culprit, but they did repair my kurtis and gave me the $95 credit for sending back to them.

They are very nice to deal with and design things over email during the ordering process. It's very frustrating when we are used to dealing with American forms of customer service. Those in Pakistan know we are here and they are there. No international laws protect us.

I hope they can resolve the issue for you. They eventually resolved mine and I am very satisfied with my kurtis. HH herself admited that the previous kurtis were made in haste due to busy wedding season.

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

You wonder how some things turn out and some don't. The original Poster, Marena, had a wonderful experience with her wedding outfit.

if she was so busy, perhaps she shouldn't have accepted your order at all, let alone according to the timeline she provided you. surely she's got enough business if she's busy and doesn't need to accept every order.

in all the communication with my friend, HH has never once apologized nor has she offered to fix the problem or offer a solution- instead, she's countering with "you're upset because you didn't get what you expected"... well DUH! my friend has emails detailing the chosen fabric and kaam for the outfit- the outfit they've received isn't what they agreed to pay for. why wouldn't they be upset?

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

This woman and her "company/business/if you can call it that!!" is the most rude, incompetent woman i have ever had the misfortune of doing business with.

Lie after lie after lie.
They had 7 months to make my lehnga and kept reassuring me that it was being made, replying to my emails telling me it was now in stitiching and that it would be ready on my arrival. When i got there she kept delaying me, telling me it was almost done. FINALLY after numerous lies she told me to come for my fitting.....the cutting was completely wrong, the lehnga didnt even lie right. The top was loose, the kapra was already pulled in areas.
I was horrified and still am.

Unfortunately after MANY MANY arguments with this horrid woman, i was offered a discount with the lehnga or a full refund. I didnt have any time left before my wedding so had to have the lehnga altered myself and took the refund.

I have to say the lehnga was loved on the day, and the person who altered my lehnga did a fantastic job but this woman ruined the whole excitement that i had for my lehnga.

PLEASE TAKE THESE WARNINGS SERIOUSLY! DO NOT BUY FROM HER!
She didnt give me a pouch either, but by the end of it all i couldnt even be bothered with her, i just didnt want to hear her voice or see her face again!
If she thinks she's going to get ANYWHERE in business like this, shes very wrong, and i hope she gets whats coming to her very soon!

Ive ordered from many companies in Pakistan and have never been so mistreated. She gives businesses in Pakistan a bad name!

Yikes, another horror story.

This should be moved to Bazaar Talk as well.

Sad...

Can you post a pic of this?

WOW! I hope Hajra has access to this forum, she has a lot to learn still it seems :cheegum:

Oh Shay don't worry, she has full access to this forum!!
It was mentioned during our argument!
x

SozanKaar, will you please share the conact info of the girl who made your outfits? I am always on the look out for home-based designers in Karachi and would love to add new ones on the list.
Thanks in advance.

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

Marena seemed relatively happy with her lengha.

I guess if HH does have access to this forum, she will see that whilst she continues to make mistakes, she will not always get away from this. As this is a influential forum and one from which people place a lot of emphasis on other peoples' experiences, her business will suffer. Maybe if she attempts to rectify these mistakes she and her staff have made on numerous occasions, she could redeem herself.

If hr business was in the UK, she would have been reported to OFCOM and also no doubt, been sued silly!

Those who have been unjustly treated and received faulty goods, do not lose hope and continue to communicate with her until she offers an alternative, whether it be a refund, compensation or alternations!

Re: my Wedding outfit from Hajra Hayat

SGC, Pakistan customs does check the package but never has anything been destroyed or ripped. I have pacakages sent to me several times a year through pakistan post office mostly let alone DHL and they have arrived perfectly. The shipping should have been less than $100 but I guess they charge for the "handling" part too.

^ my friend said the package was barely 2 lbs and i didn’t believe her but then i saw the outfit…
here are the pics.

and here are my questions:

  1. does the outfit below look anything like this outfit? this was ordered but in gold and turqoise with lilac accents.

  1. does the outfit below look like a VALIMA jora for a BRIDE?

  2. does the outfit below look like its worth $1900 CAD / 120,000 rupees?

the shirt was supposed to be pure silk. this is an unrefined mixed silk

the dupatta was supposed to be pure silk. this is georgette. like the kind you wear with cotton joras

the border was meant to be thicker and have kaam on fabric. these two pattis are a cotton-type fabric and have applique on them

the gharara was meant to be pure silk jamavar. this is the worst kind of mixed jamavar- it feels coarse, has no weight so theres no drape or grace that usually is in a gharara, and the print on it is pink, i mean, come ON… the outfit was meant to be in turqoise and gold. and thats the other thing, its not gold. its the color of cardboard

the stiching is already coming loose on the turqoise and lilac borders. the way the gharara is stiched together, its clear it wasn’t cut on the bias like ghararas traditionally are. its a mess, and honestly, i wouldn’t wear it if i was offered it for free.
and secondly, i cant get over the fact that this quality of work is what hajra is defending so completely. if i was her, i’d frankly be ashamed of putting my name to this outfit. there is no finesse, no nazakat, and absolutely nothing to be proud of here. oh and as a minor note, she charged 10,000 for a matching bag and that never even arrived.
