My baby’s drool rash is getting worse and worse (it’s all over his chin, under his chin & around his nose area) All I keep finding online is to keep the areas clean and dry. Of course I try to do this, but it’s kind of tough with him drooling CONSTANTLY. Also, it doesn’t help that he has his fingers in his mouth constantly.
Has anyone had any success in treating/preventing drool rash? What did you use? Is diaper rash cream or Baby Vesseline safe on the face - especially since he’ll surely touch the ointment with his hands and suck them? HELP!!!
My baby had the same thing when she was teething and it got worse and worse because she was drooling so much. She'd soak thru a bib in like 10 min. I kept putting Vaseline but the rash didn't go away because of the continuous drooling. And it was probably burning her too because a couple of times when her drool got on my face and I didn't wipe it properly my skin would start burning from there (because they're saliva gets really acidic during teething). Anyway my mom had been telling me for so long to give her glycerine and I hadn't gotten around to getting it. Actually I didn't know what it does and I thought maybe it wouldn't really help much. But basically it stopped the drooling! Literally in one day she had almost stopped drooling. A baby who's bib needed to be changed every 15 min. And the pacifier at night made it worse. Anyway glycerin is used in baking all the time, make sure u get the food grade one cuz apparently there's another kind. All u have to do is dab a bit of it on ur index finger (u know how u do perfume sometimes, just tilt the bottle upside down with ur finger on it and tilt it back up) and let the baby suck on r finger. It's basically just a sweet taste and babies love it. U could also just put a drop on her pacifier. U can do it twice or thrice a day initially and after that once is usually enough. Once the drooling stopped the Vaseline fixed the rash in a few days. And she never got it again. Please give it a try it really works and it's such a simple solution!
