Took a couple of Aleeve caplets and had a much better night. The pain is not even half of what it was yesterday. I can sit straight for longer periods of time.
30's have hit me with a bang.

FunGuy,

I hurt my back 3 weeks after my wedding...I pulled a muscle, doing something really really stupid (No jokes about newelyweds it was NOT that) and I was out unable to work full time at the office (had to work from home) for about 3 months..it was horrible...i have never had that much pain in my life...

it all goes down hill after 30 IMO...

OMG  The 30’s!!! Whoa uncle jee don’t you think its about time you get married now…!!!

Kamar dard hai na.... moov laga!

Hope you are feeling better now. If it goes away in a few days after taking a few tablets, it was probably not recurring. You may have just pulled some muscle. Taking pain killers, rubbing Bengay kinda gels and not doing anything stupid (lifting a weight etc) will take care of it. And if it goes away, do naffil shukranay ke parh li jiyay ga.

Backpain can be a real show-stopper.

If your posture is incorrect, have a lumpy mattress, or for whatever reason you end up damaging any nerve on the spinal chord, that is not so easy to cure. The pain is very sharp and usually the ailment stays for life. Someone I know had recurring problem, and the last time it lasted a few months (pretty much like amelie described). The ortheopeaedic (sp?) recommended surgery. He tried alternative medicines. Fortunately for him, acupuncture worked! He has been pain-free for seven years now. Just takes care of his posture. One never knows what will work.

Yes, you are right Amelie. In any form of exercise, if you don't do it properly, you will definitely feel the pain. It's just that in my experience, any time I've done yoga, I find that the shoulder area of my back hurts more cause there is so much more pressure on this part when you are in the downward dog and then cobra positions. It usually leaves me a bit sore. :p

Shoulder pain is different than back pain Mehnaz...I get sore shoulders in yoga because the downward dog/cobra/crocadille positions involve heavy arm use to hold up my body...it's great...i can feel that i'm getting stronger....

However, I find the plow..the one you do where you're on your back, your legs fo over youer head to floor behind is an amazing upper tricep stretch.....

As for yoga and back injuries..again anything done incorrectly will hurt your back. I know that there are certain positiosn that you shouldn't do or be careful of...if you've got a good instructor they will give you modifications to help support/protect your back.

Faisal,
Glad your friend did not go with surgery...surgery can just lead to a downward spiral of continued back problems... I did some research on back injury interventions and there is not much medical science can do...accupuncture helps reduce pain...exercise...helps improve movement and eventually the pain stops. Howver, people who get caught up in the pain and sit around all the time...don't help improve their situation.
