As a long time resident of Gupistan. I have often noticed, that when trying to justify actions of contemporary times, many people here evoke examples from 1500 years ago. So if a question is whether woman should wear a skirt above the knee, they suggest “no, ayesha bibi never wore a skirt above her knee”..when asked if muslims should be trading swaps, they say, “no..mohammad forbade Riba” etc.
I was talking about this with a chinese friend the other day, who said, something concise, " people who look to live their life will always be running behind the present..with no hope for the future"
PD, did he also know that people who forget their past are most prone to repeating their mistakes. Tell him to try that on for a size....maybe he will appreciate this nugget from his country fella (Conficous)
thank you for the correction… it shows that we can learn from errors made in the past and correct them for the present and future… and benefit from positive aspects of the past for a better life in the present and future
^ how explicit..guppy jaani..somehow common sense is not so common though. What does a woman living in arabia during the 7th century has to do with fashion in the 21st? or camel traders in the 7th century with derivative traders in the 21st? NADA...
True or false, the most perfect system of life per muslim thought was during mohammad's time?
or you can look at it the way history buffs look at it - looking to history is important so you don't make the same stupid mistakes again.
But somehow, we keep looking to the future, and we forget about the fact that centuries ago, someone already did what we are doing and they f'ed up or didn't.
So you’r trying to say that muslim girls should war skirts above the knees? That makes sense to you. Fine do that. You’ll see rape , divorse , suicide , adultry rates go sky rocket.
The religion was perfected for us 1400 years ago. The Quran is here to stay and whats written in there is for all times to come and not for just that era.
And they don’t say Hazrat Aysha never wore a skirt above her knee, they say Muslim girls aren’t allowed (in Islam ) to wear the skirt above the knee. And not just 1400 years ago or today, thats for ever.
Well, now now. Lets not exaggerate. The cause of rapes, divorces, suicides, and adultery are not due to wearing skirts above the knee, nor does it say that anywhere in Islam.
Skirts and clothing that reveals any skin falls into the issue of modesty. That's all.
PD: The very reason to believe in the actions of people from Past for us is our FAITH and the Belief that Islam has never changed since then and won’t ever change for truth always remains truth from before beggining till after end.
The beliefs that change by time and the faith that molds during the span of time are merely some toys in the hands of devil. Nothing more, nothing less.
