My girls are starting school this year and I just started pushing back their bedtime. If you have school going kids, or, kids starting school, what are the some things you do to prep your kids for the school year. I have yet to buy some clothes for them but we have the bag down, and the lunchbox. Do you guys have any first day traditions? I def wanna take a pic of them holding a sign first day of school and will do with the last day IA but share your tips and ideas.
Re: Back to school tips
My daughter started her school this year. She did attend pre school last year but this year its very tiring for her. her teacher said once kids enter the school they dont get free time…so many activities to do and they get very tired. she goes to bed 9 and 8 am she doesnt get up.
get several lunch boxes…kids they compete with other kids and want to have different every week… i try to rotate her lunch boxes.
different type of food and try to teach kids about halal and haram. In my daughters class kids bring sandwiches and cakes to share on birthdays. my daughter has told her teachers about eating halal only.
also teaching kids about sharing and saying NO to bully or other kids. its very important for kids to know this before they start school.
I have 2 logo shirts (white with school logo) and i got 4 from target. she get so much paint and markers on her shirt and even bleach doesnt remove those marks. so i buy from target rather than pay so much extra for logo shirts from school
also remember to get good library bag, pain shirt (try to get waterproof one).
and ofcourse kids have time management issues..after school they will want to do all that they used to do in whole day…my daughter starts crying that she didnt finish doing wat she wants to do and its bed time.
important to tell your daughters to wash hands after going to toilet and during recess must use toilet. so many kids wet their pants even at 6+ years of age as they too busy playing and will forget to go to toilet.

If they are taking the school bus then take pictures of them stepping on the bus or if you will drop them off then take pictures there. Pin their name and address along with grade and bus number on to their clothes for the first few days. Try and put school supplies in the lass room before the first day if your school allows that ( usually on meet the teacher day).
Look out for other desi parents at the school and befriend them if you like them. It’s tons of help. Try not to put them in the habit of buying lunch from school every day.
Make sure your kids have read some of the summer reading books from your school!s reading list.

Moodie! Thats what pretty much I did last year. (backpacks/lunch bag/clothes/rain boots/outwear/velcro shoes/raincoat)
I have my younger one starting school this September as well so here we go again x2. Lol
What I have started doing as of last week is that keeping the girls organized at home, I went and bought storage bins from Michaels and each bin has their name on it and thats only where they put their drawings/colouring pages once finished. I’m tired of picking up papers from everywhere.
Also keeping the front foyer closet clean another (smaller sized bin) stocked with their socks/sunscreen/hats/backpacks so when those school mornings kick-in, no one is running around the house looking frantically for these things.
Their bed time hasn’t been changed at all, kids are still going to bed around 8-8:30 mark minus the few nights of late parties/wedding events.
And on school morning they ALL must be up by 7 am latest 7:15. School starts at 8:55. I’m vert strict about time management around here ![]()
