Back to school shopping

(As in the supplies/stationery)

Where do you guys do it from? I usually go to Walmart or Target. This year I went to Staples and boy was it cheaper! usually I spent close to $200 for the 2 of them. Staples was around $130.

I was thinking of ordering online via Amazon but I didn’t get a chance and now it was too late but I thought I’d check out Staples as I had other work there as well and it ended up being a good experience. How about you guys?

Re: Back to school shopping

Walmart is very cheap ,
I went with my friend she was buying for her kids, and there were deals like 5 for $10 or 2 for $ 1.

Re: Back to school shopping

Staples is DA BOMB. It has so much more nicer stuff than Walmart. Plus they have one week where the reams of paper are next to free.

Back to school shopping

We shop at Walmart for the school supplies but planning to go to staples this year! And I'm glad to hear its cheaper! Already spent a lot on uniform.

Re: Back to school shopping

I order through the school (except for backpacks etc). Cost is around $50 per kid. The zipper Binder though we got from Walgreens it cost $17, office max was selling it for $30. Thanks for letting us know about Staples. Had no idea.

Re: Back to school shopping

Do any of u mothers get high in the stationery store? I’d buy more for myself than the kid. And then insist my 3 yr old needs a label maker, highlighters etc..

:smoke:

Re: Back to school shopping

I order through the school however missed the deadline this time. It was such a hassle going shopping ourselves and having to look for each item on the list. Plus it would have been cheaper had we ordered through the school.

Re: Back to school shopping

Target can get pricey. Sometimes they have stuff that dirt cheap - other times they are charging $2.49 for box of crayons.

I also went to staples this year because I had a gift card. But they are sneakkkky. The bins in the front were expensive. $4 for a box of Ticonderoga pencils (I don’t think so). I went back to the aisles and they had more variety and I rather pay for what I need rather than getting a bigger box.

Our school doesn’t offer buying supplies with them :frowning: It’s hassle free for so many parents. But I am curious as to how expensive is it?

I always have an issue with buying new bag-packs and lunch boxes every year. I get them new ones after 2 years - not every year. What do you guys do?

Re: Back to school shopping

:lifey: I love stationery or office supply stores. Why? I don’t know. But totally get excited testing out sharpies in 46 colors!

Re: Back to school shopping

This is going to be my first back to school shopping.

I think I’ll go to WHSmith. It’s a huge chain store dedicated to stationary.

Re: Back to school shopping

OMG have you ever been to a stationery store in Pakistan..??,They have so much fancier stuff..erasers which smell like chocolates, pencils which have feathers and bells and the 100 different kinds of pens…drool

I love going to stationery aisles in stores in the US too…I love buying (or even looking at) pens and markers..!

Re: Back to school shopping

I absolutely LOVE the stationary store.......and here I am with a child who attends a school where they don't need you to send anything at all except for a backpack and a pencil case; they provide it all.

Re: Back to school shopping

^ Muzna.. me too!

but my child also goes to a school where I dont even get the luxury of putting name labels on her things... they provide everything and keep everything there. The only thing i labeled was her satchel, bag and uniform.. sigh
