I would recommend Bengay on your back and neck, and then using a heating pad - it works really well for (temporary) relief.

It could be due to bad posture. Re-evaluate the way you sit on the chair for long periods of time. Is your computer chair ergonomically compliant?. Does it have a firm back rest?. How is the height?. As a rule of thumb your monitor should be at normal eye-level where you dont have to lok up and down. Don't place keyboard (or laptop) in your lap.

Check your chair. Make sure it's not broken or it could be your posture, as Funguy has outlined.
In the meanwhile, a massage, long hot baths and heating pads (hot water bottle) should do the trick. Bengay does work too, although it has a strong scent.

FG raised has raised some good points. here are a few more things u ned to evaluate
1) how do you sleep- 4 pillows rolled under your neck while sleeping on your tummy will almost certainly give u a back ache
2) how comofortable is your bed- too hard, too soft..suffers from the dreaded hammocking?
3) is there an anatomical issue- sports injury, damage due to some chronic pressure due to posture or repetetive motion.
4) do u have comfortable shoes, see a podiatarist..maybe you need orthotics, many people who pronate too much get pain in lower back especially if the shoes are not comfy.

i sleep on my tummy and on my side. but only one pillow.
the laptop lately has been on my bed. normally its on a desk. either way, i've always had pain.
maybe the books i carry on my back?
