Back combing on wedding day!

Hey everyone,
I know backcombing is essential for every hairstyle which needs to stay, but with the heavy dupatta and loads of pins, is it absolutely necessary to get it done? Are there any alternatives?

I have thin hair, and have alot of trouble untangling the backcombing:s And i dont want to spend 2 hours opening it on my wedding day lol whats the best way to de-tangle the hair without making it break?

Bumppits is not used by parlours dey prefer backcoming can any 1 plz suggest an easy way to untangle it rather spending hrs on it at wedding days

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

okz...i also have thin hair Bumpits can be used for creating a heavy look in hair..in parlors they often use sumthing to put inside hair that can create that heavy bump in hair....Also their is another technique used by beauticians in which they fold a layer of ur own hair smoothly inside your upper or second layer that creates a bump... Use of sprays etc help it stay....it really works and is not at all difficult to open hair at end...

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

Use a 100% boar's head cushion or paddle brush........ and start from the end of the hairs to the scalp ..........dont use water or anything conditioner to detangle as water will tangle it further ........take some time using ur fingers to de tangle them n usien the brushes ..........its necessary to brush ur hair first and then take a bath

Points to keep in mind
• Curly and wavy hair can be backcombed but it is more prone to damage. Always make sure your hair has cooled after using irons to prevent breaking.
• Before beginning to backcomb make sure your hair is completely tangle free using a bristle brush. This may seem puzzling, since you are about to introduce artful tangles, but starting with tangle-free hair will avoid the chance of natty dreds.
• Thirdly, clip back any areas you aren't back brushing. Choose areas you want to back brush. This could be the shorter layers of your hair - or all your hair for a more dramatic look.
• The smaller the sections you do at a time the longer the shape will last because it makes the whole thing more condensed.
• Use short strokes rather than long fluid strokes. Practice until you achieve the correct results. The key to backcombing is uniformity. Strive to make all the sections the same size and tightness.

• Remember to use good styling sprays or similar products to support the backcombed sections. While less may be more, when it comes to teased hairstyles, too little may not be enough.

• Avoid wetting down the newly teased hairdo. Water can intensify any tangles and make them virtually impossible to remove.

Remove Backcombing:
• Always take as much time as necessary to remove the backcombing. Never shampoo or stick your head in the shower until after you have carefully removed the style. Water will cause the hair to tangle further making removal of the hair nest more difficult, if not impossible.
• Use a 100% boar's head cushion or paddle brush. Separate the hair into small sections. Work slowly and carefully from the ends of the hair up towards the scalp. Avoid tugging or impatience.
• Take as much time as necessary and work methodically from side to side.
• After a major backcombing session remember to step up your normal conditioning and deep conditioning treatments.
• Whenever possible, give your hair a rest from continual backcombing.

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

This is probably completely the wrong way to do it, but after having my hair back-combed, my aunt just put loads of mustard oil in it, and then gently brushed it out from the roots as suggested. It seemed to work quite well, and I do have really sensitive hair.

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

good idea :)

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

you can find pointy Combs and thru tht u can detangle ur hair. Other then tht conditioning and oiling.

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

Applying conditioner helps a lot!

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

There are de-tangling conditioners on the market you can look into.

To get rid of the back combing, I used oil and a large tooth comb. I combed it out before showering and took a shower, conditioned my hair with a heavy moisture shampoo and then again used a large tooth comb afterwards.

Hope this helps :)

Re: Back combing on wedding day!

I doubt ill be able to oil my hair on my wedding night:S but i think a large tooth comb would be helpful...do you suggest any detangling conditioner?
