Re: BACK ACHES

I have a lower back pain since I had my second baby. Before that I used to have a cervical pain in the neck and shoulder area which would spread down into my arms. That was due to posture at my computer-based job. I went through some physical therapy and exercise. I am fine now.

The lower back pain is also being controlled by specific exercises and sometimes Ibuprofen.

Re: BACK ACHES

I suffered from really bad back aches back in yr 10 (lambi kahani), I started physiotherapy in yr 11 but left it bcoz it was taking a toll on my studies... then when at uni I started swimming regularly, Alhumdulillah this has helped me greatly.

These days if I do get a back ache occasionally then I try and sleep on the hard matress, or get someone to massage my back... also I just read the "durd-ki-dua" on my back and Subhanallah it helps every time :)

Re: BACK ACHES

thanks for sharing, Niksik and pinks.

same here. long drives i think. one must take a soft cushion and always have a good posture for the back.

i have heard hot yoga in suana will help. but one has to be careful, as it can get very hot. maybe with building resistance, the back aches can be improved.

Re: BACK ACHES

soft cushion is going to make it worst .. you need a firm support

Re: BACK ACHES

meh i get lower back pains but no clue why  and they only last for an hour or so

Re: BACK ACHES

I had severe back pain both lower and upper. Physiotherapy and yoga and helped me a lot. Now I swim 1000 meters free style daily as a prevention.

Re: BACK ACHES

I had a car accident which resulted in whiplash. Sufferend severe back pains and had physio for at least 4-5months. I still do get back pains when i am lifting heavy stuff - best thing that helps is asking my husband to stand on my back until it clicks. Once its clicked, pains disappears!

Actually i need to get it done...

Re: BACK ACHES

I have always had a bad back. At the moment it's worsend as I constantly have to pick up my little one, take him in and out of the crib and car seat etc. Last time I went for physical therapy when my older child was going thru the godi age. This time I have just left it alone so far.

Re: BACK ACHES

we are young and we have back aches. what are we doing that might be the cause?
spine stenosis is bad and is often undiagnosed.
so is a fall or a injury or wrong posture and exertion.
people must take care of their backs, while driving, while sitting and standing, using a good mattress to sleep on, a firm chair and so forth.

[FONT=Times New Roman]BACK PAIN

[FONT=Times New Roman]If you suffer from back pain, there are things you can do to prevent it from worsening or requiring a visit to the doctor. Some useful tips:

[FONT=Times New Roman]Always the first mode of defence for a host of ailments, exercise is the key to strengthening back and stomach muscles. Keep your upper back flat when lying down. Use a pillow under your knees. If you are lying on your side, put a pillow between your knees. If your back aches, don't lie on your stomach. Shift your weight when you have to stand for long periods of time. Support your lower back when you have to sit for a long time. For example, put a small cushion or rolled towel between your lower back and chair.

[FONT=Times New Roman]Take breaks. When you sit or stand or even drive for long periods of time, take a few minutes to walk or stretch.

[FONT=Times New Roman]Don't drive with a thick wallet in your back pocket.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Lose some pounds if you're overweight.

[FONT=Times New Roman]Bend your knees whenever you have to lift anything. Let your legs not your back do most of the work.

A tight tummy can do more than look good. It can actually help ease low back pain. Several studies confirm that stronger abdominal muscles can help minimize and, in some cases, eliminate low back pain. Try this simple exercise to strengthen your stomach.

Lie on your back and cross your arms lightly over your chest. Press the small of your back against the floor. Slowly lift only your head and shoulders off the floor to a height that feels comfortable. Do not do a full sit-up. Hold for a count of 3. Repeat 8 times. Gradually increase to 20 repetitions.
