If u want to get more than one degree from different colleges you will need to meet certain amount of requirements towards that degree from that school. Say for example I got a business- Marketing degree from school A and I want to go to school B to get my International Studies degree. Some of my credits from school A will transfer to School B, but school B has say 90 (made up number, each school varies) credits required in order to graduate with my International Studies degree.
