Hey girls - i saw the thread for bridal showers and thought I would start this thread.
Are you guys having one? Is it going to be held somewhere local or somewhere else? What is being planned for it?
My bridesmaids are planning me a surprise Bachelorette… I’m literally not going to know where it is going to be at until I am at the airport!!!
They are planning a weekend that is filled with dinners at fancy restaurants, spa days, and shopping. I told them it had to be a classy affair and filled with fun girl time. And my two best friends have promised me that it will be just that
I am hoping it will be somewhere warm and soon since where I live is being hit with snow storm after snow storm!
They are buying me a cute sweatshirt that says “Soon To Be Mrs. ****” on the back of it. Something to wear during my chill time..
For the last dinner on our little vacay they told me that it will be held at the fanciest restaurant and that we will be extremely dressed up. They want me to wear a white dress and they will all be wearing black. I heard something about me wearing a tiara as well. haha.
I have 6 bridesmaids but 20 friends total are invited on this trip. Very excited about this! Will be a nice break from the stress of wedding planning! Plus since we all live so far from each other…it will be great to spend quality time with my friends…some that i have not seen in years!!!
wow...lucky you! I wish I could go away somewhere warm for my bachelorette! But my parents are pretty strict, and they wouldnt have any of that!
Before I left for my Pakistan trip, my friends were talking about my bachelorette, but havent said anything since I returned, so I dont know if the plan is off, or its just a surprise now. I really do want to have one though...that would be a lot of fun!
PR, you're bachelorette sounds great! Lucky you... esp since so many ppl are going, no doubt it will be a great time!
I really wanted to get away w my gf's too, but unfortunately it's not going to happen. Ideally I wanted to go to a beach destination for a resort trip, but my wedding is in April and I decided there is no way I should be sitting in the sun and near 24hr buffet's only a few months before my wedding! I think we'll end up going for a Montreal wknd, or maybe Niagara Falls.
My friends are having a bachelorette party, too. No bridal shower, which is good for me. I'd rather not dress up & get fed mithai from all the aunties we know. But I'm super excited about the bachelorette party. I told them to keep it a small group so we can "chill." They won't tell me anything except that they've already started planning :) I may be more excited about this night than my wedding... lol... is that bad?
PR, yours sounds great, too! I'm much more of a small-group person, so I would not enjoy a big party as much, but it sounds so exciting!
I only know that we are going to another country have no clue where since they wanted my passport and its going to be a small group of friends like 10-15 people...
What is the difference between a bridal shower and a bachelorette? Is it the custom to go somewhere far (like take a plane)? And who pays for what for the bachelorette?
Just curious, because no one in my circle has had one except for my gori friends, and they just go out for a night and get piss drunk. But doing a bachelorette as a fun getaway sounds veryyyy appealing :)
Your bach party sounds like soooo much fun!!! Its going to be great to relax and have girl time and take a break from crazy shaadi planning! Ooooooo i wonder where they are taking you!!! And I loveeee tiara’s - my friends are buying me one for my bridal shower since its a princess theme - I’m so excited to wear it!!
Wow you have 20 people going on an out of town trip - that will be a ton of fun - IA!
My really close friends are throwing me a spa weekend - it will be only 6 of us since its just a close close friends and we will drive to a city about 2 hrs away and go to this resort but thats all I know - its gonna be real low key but I’m so excited.
So I have a question - are you buying your friends maybe like the 6 bridesmaids some sort of gift for organising it??? I know gorai people do that right?? I was thinking of doing that but didnt know what to get for them.

You are going to another country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's super exciting!!!!

Yup you got it right the bachelorette party is usually an out of town trip where the bridal shower is done locally - but I've seen a few bachelorette parties which are done in the same city as the bride - its just like a day/night out where your friends plan something fun. Usually your friends pay for everything - now when it comes to plane tickets that all depends on the friends - I have been on a few where the bride paid for her own ticket since she felt bad so she wouldnt let us but we paid for everything else including hotel and food spa stuff etc.
Theres so many other things which you can do other then going out and drinking- spa stuff, sightseeing in diff city, broadway shows eating a nice restaurants and the list goes on!!!
You are going to another country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's super exciting!!!!
Yeah I know have no idea where and when and they wont tell me!!! only that its going to be for a week and that I dont need to pack any clothes when the time comes! doesnt that sound weird?
actually In Denmark we call it polterabend and it can be a trip out of town/country or just a local place/places
I have been too a few once both desi and non desi and they are all the same or almost same, there are alcohol at non desi I only seen alcohol at one desi polterabend. U can do all kind of events their are this so called event factory that specialize in Polterabend activities http://www.polterabend.dk/
if u are doing it locally
hahahahahahah U know - I was thinking the same thing in regards to sitting in the sun. I think if my friends decide to take me somewhere warm (which I am still hoping for bc i HATE this weather) … I am just going to be covered up and chilling under an umbrella haha. And then once the wedding is over with and its time for the honeymoon…im not even going to care. I am pretty fair..but I tan really easily. It’s just a hassle in regards to makeup!! I can’t afford to buy a million different shades! LOL.
Hun - go to Montreal - do not go to Niagara Falls!!! It is like in my backyard lol. At one point it literally was … I lived only 15 minutes away from it. My friends and I would go and chill like every weekend when we were 18/19 …but it got pretty dull …really fast. I have heard that Montreal is legit fun tho!!!
Just my two cents
I’m super excited for mine too…and no ..i dont think its bad that u r excited about this!! Think about it …It’s a stress free event where you are not spending any money and will not be judged or critiqued. You will be with your best friends having a great time
Mine isn’t really a big party really…its more like a mini vacation!! And since I have lived in so many different places, I have managed to accumulate good friends with life. And obviously my sister and some of her close friends who I consider like my own younger sisters are also invited. That is why it seems like so many girls! I’m sure during the day we will all be wearing casual clothing but at night for fancy dinners, my friends and I are all girly girls and like to get dolled up…so it will be so much fun!
Well u r super lucky to have gone to Lahore hun to do my shopping. I would have Love love loved to have been able to do that. I can’t believe I am getting married but did not get the chance to do my own wedding shopping Ah well.
My mom actually really likes the idea of me getting away with my friends for a “girl’s weekend”. She knows all my friends and also knows that distance has kept me apart from alot of them. So she thinks this is a once in a life time opportunity…that me and all my friends will be together on a vacation. I have to agree with her
How fun! You will have to keep us posted on where they end up taking you!!! Any idea when you will be going??? My girls also asked me if my passport was valid!!! So no idea if we r staying in the country or leaving! It could be anywhere really!
My friends are of all different backgrounds and religions…but one thing in common is that they are all classy… no getting wasted and that cliche bachelorette stuff u see on TV. One of my best friends is a gori and she has planned 3 bachelorettes in the past already and they were always very classy affairs where the emphasis was just spending quality time with your girlfriends.
A bachelorette could be a one night event and it could be local. Or it could be a mini-vacation like how my friends are planning mine. We are definitely taking planes…we all live in different parts of the US .. some ppls flights might be less than others… but everyone is flying from what I have heard. Everyone pays for themselves and then they also pitch in and pay for for the bride… so that way the bride does not pay a single cent on/for the trip. It’s a wonderful present from her friends to her.
ohhhhh a spa weekend is going to be AMAZING and sooooo relaxing! I’m excited for you hun! We all deserve some good old fashioned low key fun with our closest confidante’s before the shaadi.
I have 7 official bridesmaids… number 8 is my sister. lol. Other girls besides my bridesmaids will be coming to the bachelorette vacay. I’m getting my bridesmaids gifts … havn’t thought of what yet tho. I was thinking of some kind of jewelry to go with their outfits they will be wearing for the shaadi. They are the ones helping me out the most with the wedding, they are a big part of the wedding, and have already spent alot of money on the sarees they will be wearing as their bridesmaid dresses. My gift to them will be a thank you for doing all this for me.
As for the other girls … it kinda goes without being said that if you are close enough to them that you are inviting them to your bach party …when it is their time to get married, they will invite you …and then you will have to fork over some money for the trip and also for the brides expense …so it all evens out in the end.

I know I'm super excited also even though its still about 3 months away - then the shaadi in IN 4 months - god time is going by so fast!
I dont really have bridesmaids - but I guess I have about 3 to 4 girls who are doing alotttt for me- especially my best friend - MA I have the bestest best friend in the world she is doing everything for me. I want to get her something really special - I'm already bringing back a jora for her to wear at my mehndi but I think I should get everyone else something also. They are spending so much time coordinating my events / dances and all that for me I just dont want to spend alot on it but I still want it to be nice. I like your idea of matching jewerly since it something they would need to buy anyways. Hmmmmm I'll have to think of something unless anyone else has any ideas????
I’m so excited for you! Your friend must no you very well to pick a place that you will like - I guess it also helps if you arent a control freak like me
I dont know about the packing thing though- how will they get your clothes for you??? Do you think maybe one of they will come to your house and pack your bag for you??? Thats confusing…
LOL I am excited but a bit worried too lol Trust me I am control freak and not knowing whats going to happend are driving me crazy!
I am guessing they will get my sister to pack a bag for me or something or else it doesnt make sense but I will keep u guys updated. We should all write about our crazy day afterwards lol

I have an idea I am playing with maybe you can use it too. I was thinking of taking all of my bridesmaids for a Wellness-weekend too Norway where we can relax and just have a good time together away from everyone.

Thats a great idea and sounds very different but how much is that going to cost!??!! Sounds expensive- I'm already buying a jora for a couple of my friends so I just wanted it to be nice but not too expensive. Maybe I can get them all something when I go to Pakistan..... i just dont know what
