Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask you guys how many people were traveling during their pregnancy, whether it was for work or if you decided to take a babymoon vacation before the baby came. Would love to hear your stories and how it was like traveling, especially over seas if you went far. Would you guys recommend traveling during your pregnancy and how far along were you when you went? How did you feel, was it worth it or was it hard to enjoy your time etc? Would love to get a general idea! I would love to take a vacation before the baby comes as I have been sick as a dog since I found out I was preggers and wanted to think about taking it later on this summer when I will be starting my 4-5 months. ![]()
Re: Babymoon Vacation
Mabrook on your pregnancy! I hope the process/journey is beautiful and blessed! :)
I wish could contribute, but haven't had that experience.
Re: Babymoon Vacation
For my first, we went to Barbados when I was 10 weeks. Bad idea! The nausea and vomiting were horrendous. For my second, we came to Cali when I was 5 months. It was great until I discovered
I had gall stones. Then the whole pregnancy went downhill. Bleh.
Wait until your nausea is done and then you can go anywhere really.
4-6 months is the perfect time IMHO.
Re: Babymoon Vacation
Thanks SGC! Oh my god, yes I am ten weeks and there is no way I can go anywhere right now. I can hardly make it to work and contemplated leaving my job but doctor gave me Zofran for the nausea and that seems to be getting me by but just barely. But because Ive been so sick, is the reason I would love to take a week off and just relax somewhere nice. Who knows when we'll have the opportunity to go anywhere once the baby is here iA.
Re: Babymoon Vacation
Wait till your second trimester preferably when you are 16-26 weeks. Please do go somewhere though. In fact go somewhere far and enjoy it to the max. I went to Vegas during my first pregnancy and during my second I went to France. I had such a great time both times! Now with two kids it's getting hard to take international vacations so I suggest going all out if you can!
Re: Babymoon Vacation
We traveled to Scotland in my 2nd tri and had a GREAT time. You just have to accept that you may not have as much energy as before, and be prepared to take frequent breaks.
Re: Babymoon Vacation
I'm 6 months preggers and my hubby and I just got back from the Bahamas, and it was amazing! we had a lot of fun, however I couldn't do many "activities" as I could before pregnant such as water sports etc, however it was really nice having that last trip with your hubby.
The only downside was the walking, when you go on a vacation, you usually have to walk a lot, which would have been fine before, but you may not be able to walk a lot and may need to sit down frequently, also I can't emphasize this enough: take comfortable clothes and shoes! I took a bunch of "dress up" clothes and "heels" however never ended up wearing them because its really hot and you wanna be comfortable when your pregnant. Take sneakers with you if possible trust me, I had to go buy some cheap sneakers because of the walking I had to do, and flip flops were not cutting it with all the baby weight.
Another downside is the frequent bathroom breaks! You don't have that problem in the USA or UK because you can just pop into a mcdonalds and use their bathroom but its not the case everywhere else. I had to use the bathroom every half hour and finding one esp in a 3rd world country is not easy!
Try to go before 20 weeks when you can have more fun if you can.
Just relax and drink lots of water and have fun!
Re: Babymoon Vacation
I went to the Smoky MountIns in the USA ( I live in the USA) just around my seventh month with my second pregnancy. It wS good. I was very sick during that pregnancy but at that time I had some relief. There wS some wLking involved too but nothing too bad. Highly recommended. I would not go anywhere international though, just to be safe.

Re: Babymoon Vacation
Congrats! We visited friends in Seattle and stayed with them for a week. I was 5 months along so the flight or walking around wasn't bad at all. Being with friends also made the trip easier as i was more conformable in their house and had food available 24/7 :)
Re: Babymoon Vacation
Wait till you have no sickness otherwise you won't be able to enjoy it as much! I hope to do this as well inshallah when I am pregnant :)
Re: Babymoon Vacation
Right. No way I can go anywhere rightnow. Sigh, I'll be lucky if I have any vacation left by the time I get there, calling in sick all the time. 😖
