alrite so here i m with another prb.. (bear with me i will keep postin new threads, parentin is so challenging)
my daughter is 7 wks old and just wudnt take bottle feed. i m honestly fed up of not havin a social life and her being attached to my breast al the time cus even though i have awsum milk supply… she gets hungry soon becus she doesnt eat more than 10 mins.
i made a terrible mistake of not being consistent with the bottle upon all the doc’s advise. when she was born i tried bottle feedin maybe max 10 days and then gave gap and strted on and off, here n there. due to which i think she forgot the whole concept of bottle feeding. i really want her to bottle feed atleast twice a day. i tried givin her the bottle when she is almost wakin up and strechin herself 2-3 times she took the bottle cus she was half asleep but sometimes even in half asleep she dusnt take. now she screams whenever she is awake and du snt take the bottle. pushes out the bottle out by her tongue ya phir jhabday mein phensa leti hia bottle. i even tried foolin her by puttin my nipple in her mouth and the suddenly takin it out and puttin the bottle. she took 2 sucks and then recognised it. i m so tired and wanna give up too but i think i shudnt.. wot shud i do?? ive tried 2 bottles so far. pls bear in mind i feed her formula not expressed milk. pls suggest wot u all did. she makes faces as if i gave her poison!!
not sure if this will help you but when I started giving my daughter the bottle at few weeks of age,I found out that she did not like one type of bottle nipples...I switched to another brand and she was fine...
she may not like the taste or consistency of the formula. try expressing your own milk, since you have a good supply. you can store it and keep it for when you are out. maybe if it's your milk, she'll be more willing to drink from the bottle. plus if she can have your milk rather than formula, it's really better. i have the medela pump in style breast pump, but since you have a good supply, you may not need that one.
Also, what bottles are you using? I use Born Free, and those are good. I have also heard great things about Avent and Dr. Brown.
You might also try these, closest to the breast shape: Amazon.com
I just read Adiri is no longer in business. But I have seen their bottles in stores and they have been designed to mimic the breast.
nipple type is a major major thing in baby world.. my son hated avent with a passion... he hates all wide neck nipples...latex is a no no too... so i use a regular neck nipple.. dr.browns bottles as my son had a bit of reflux and he was good to go... so if ure daguther is breast feeding... i knwo tomee tipee make great made to look like breast bottle nipples and so does avent.
my daughter loved avent for the first few months of her life. then she just stopped drinking milk from it. As Tommy Tippee is not very easily available in Karachi. I really had to search for it. Anyway she now is very comfortable with Tommee Tippee and she sometimes drinks from Avent too.
I am sure your daughter is having problem with nipple.
oh and also.. flow of the liquid is a major thing too... milk has to come out just right.. not too slow and not too fast...
anotehr reason my son hated avent was cuz even their newborn nipple flow rate was too fast for him.... a flow rate is perfect if you tip the bottle over and the liquid drips out .. doesnt drizzle out nor does it take forever to come out...
its all trial and error mall... thats the only way you will find your answers.... at the end of it you will have a million bottles and nipple of every kind like i do :D

That's interesting. Lately Bunny has started rejecting the bottle. She doesn't completely reject it, and she doesn't cry or complain. She just doesn't seem interested in drinking, even when she clearly should be. She might down an ounce, and then just chew on it. Either the teething discomfort surpasses hunger, or she needs some change. She used to get 2-3 bottles daily (and even more when she was a newborn), but that's cut down now too, since she's started solids. Now she gets it only if we're out some where. I wonder if she's just out of the habit or if she needs a faster flow nipple or something.
definately try a faster flow nipple.. you are meant to increase te rate as your baby ages.... bunny is 6 months.. she should be on the medium flow nipple by now... try it..
midget used to chew and chew and fall asleep.. and i used to wonder wth was up cuz it would be feeding time.. luckily i had to do somethign bout it fast cuz he woudl cry his eyes out.... moved onto a medium flow nipple which he drank from until 9 months... it took some getting used to in the beginning.. for a day or 2... but then he settled down to it
ya try that.... if that still doesnt work... it could be she has taken to solids a bit too well :D
in that case... make all her food in milk. so she gets all teh goodness she needs. i remember my kid sis never was a fan of milk.. and once she started solids, she totally gave up on milk.. so my mom used to make her food in milk.. even keema :D thankfully babies are silly and tey eat it all.. hehe
try finding adiri bottles where you live, I tried that with my baby and the bottles are designed in such a way that they make the baby suck like he/she sucks when breastfeeding. And the movement is pretty similar not as intense as breastfeeding but still close enough.
