Re: Baby wipes and nappies

Wow I didnt know so many people wash with water instead of wipes. I use wipes evrey single time I change the diaper. How would you wash the baby in the sink if he/she had lots of #2?

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

mashallah have you had your sonogram done yet?

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

When my children were babies, I used disposable diapers, cotton diapers are not good, because they cause more rash on the babies bottom, they don't suck the urine, so the minute the baby does the little message it remains very wet. Disposable diapers can suck a certain amount of urine, so even if your baby has done the little message once, it won't be very wet (because the disposable diaper does suck more urine) and so there is less chance of rash on it's super sensitive skin.

As to cleaning, washing in the sink is the best, when you are not at home, what about using oiled wipers? While they are very good cleaners, the oil on them helps softening the bottom and it's less rough on the skin than the normal wipers.

If your baby still gets rash, there are special ointments, especially onces with sinc in them, sinc is very good, because it DRIES the skin. You can't use all kinds of creams, because there are many with perfume in them and sometimes your baby can't take them.

Good Luck. :)

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

OH I want to add, use an anti rash cream
with every diaper change even if there is no rash.

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

Congratulations Blushy :) :)

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

I recommend Desitin Creamy for rash. But if there’s no rash I use a barrier cream with each change. It’s not medicated so it just prevents moisture from touching the skin. Or even use vaseline if you have nothing else. Back in the day mom’s used to use vegetable shortening.

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

The best cream for rash would be Johnson's no more rash cream. It is made with zinc oxide. It is a 3 in 1 formula.

1. promotes effective healing
2. soothes red, irritated skin
3. forms a protective barrier.

Re: Baby wipes and nappies

When the baby has done #2, you wipe off the excess either with a baby wipe, tissue, or the clean end of the diaper. Then you wash the baby's bottom with water.

Hey congrats Blushing Vision! I'm a new mom myself..I had my little one in Dec. Im still in the learning process as well. i disposable diapers and when im at home i tend to wash her bottom with warm water in the bathrom sink..Yes its hard at first cuz its like trying to balance jello in your hands..lol But u will get the hang of it. Wipes are best fr travel purposes...Also trtry not to use wipes with newborns becuz their skin in very sensitive. My Doc advised me to use a damp paper napkin instead.
