BABY SHOPPING LIST**
Note: This is an exhaustive list that I compiled during my pregnancy, based on my personal and household needs. Items marked with * are the ones that I found to be “must-have”, while others are “nice-to-have” or you can decide as you go along after the baby is born.
NURSERY

Crib Musical Mobile (start noticing in 2.5months)

*Bottles: Six 4 to 5 oz bottles
o Avent is a popular choice
o So kids are sensitive to the type of the bottle/ nipple, so it’s a good idea to buy a sample of each, try and then buy more

*Nipple and Bottle cleaning brush
Bottle warmer (single bottle warmer from Munchkins) – not microwavable

Milk storage Bags (If you’re puming) – I like zippered one, easy to close and pour (Gerber, Lansinoh etc.)
*Bibs (4 to 6)
Waterproof Lap pads
Insulated bottle holder for diaper bag (the hospital may give you one)
*Three packs of burp cloths
Boppy pillow – for nursing
*Infant spoons ( 3 to 4) (for solid feeding around 5-6 months)
Spill-proof cups (1 to 2)
DIAPER DUTY
Cord Protection Diaper (used till cord falls ~15 days, Walgreens)
*Diapers (I liked Pampers swaddles for newborns)
*Kirkland Diaper Wipes (Costco)
*Diaper Rash Cream (Desitin)
Diaper Bag (Large & Small) – you can get a free one from hospital to use initially
Wipes warmer (may be good if it is winter)
*Diaper pail (like diaper genie, or diaper dekor)
BATH / WASH ITEMS

*Four to six one-piece undershirts that snap around the crotch – lots
*Four sleeping outfits or onesies (one-piece sleepers), preferably with attached feet and attached mittens
*Mittens, caps (check in Wal-mart & Target)
*1 light hooded jacket
*Six pairs socks/booties
*Receiving blankets – 4 to 5 (cotton/ flannel - remember to take the ones they give in the hospital)
*Swaddling blanket – from target, useful for the first 3 months
MEDICINE CHEST ESSENTIALS
*Nasal aspirator
*Digital thermometer
*Petroleum jelly
*Infant’s Tylenol (Walgreens) - A pain-and-fever reducer
*Cotton pads/swabs
*Rubbing alcohol pads (for cleaning the cord etc.)
Polyvisol Multivitamin (Walgreens)
ACTIVITY
Bouncer seat
Swing (I found this very useful)
*Rattles
Activity Mat/Gym (once the baby starts rolling)
OTHER ITEMS
*Baby Monitor - 900 MHz Long Range (Fisher Price is popular)
Baby book or journal
Lullaby music
**ITEMS FOR MOM **
Stretch mark protection cream (Mustela/ cocoa butter cream)
*Nursing gowns (front slits), front open tops
*Nursing Bras, sleeping bras for night (good to use in the hospital)
*Maternity-Panties
*Nursing Pads (Lanisoh is good - buy the stick type – walgreens)
*Nipple cream - Lanisoh (at walgreens) or lanolin ointment for cracked/ sore nipples
*Sanitary Pad for heavy flow (overnight type)
*Breast Pump – Madela pump in style advanced (if you plan to pump)
