I want to throw a baby shower for one of my friends who is due in June InshaAllah. But i have never been to one before so dont know waht are some of the must-do things. PLease share some ideas for a desi-fied shower, including decorations etc.

The simple decoration would be pink/blue balloons, ribbons, and streamers.. almostt all over the place.
I have been to this one baby shower and the game that I absolutely loved was to diaper a doll.. we were blindfolded and the one who got the diaper on correctly before anyone else won.. now ppl like me can't even do a good job with their eyes open.. so of ocurse I didn't win but it was interesting. :D

Hmm best have good food, maybe finger foods woul dbe good for baby shower. Depending on guests, come up with a menu of desi/non-desi items.
Games, do a search on google and you will find plenty of things to do. Not sure where you live, but you can get decent decorations at Party City or even some dollar stores....you can come up with a theme if you like if its boy/girl.
1 game I liked was get a few containers of various baby food, remove the label and number the jars/containers. Pass the jars around the room and have the girls guess what each jar has. Whoever guesses the most right wins a prize. Make sure to have little prizes...like maybe a picture albun, photo frame, chocolate bars, anything. Another one is fill some balloons with water. Give 1 ballon w/water, 1 diaper, & a pin & 1 piece of tape to the players. Who ever is able to stick a needle in the diaper without it popping, wins a prize....just google for what you like.

i have been to a baby shower where the host decorated the place with diapers and other baby stuff...:D It looked COOL!

Some game ideas that I've seen at baby showers:
1) This involves a laundry line, 3 people, some clean laundry in a laundry basket, laundry pins, a cordless phone and a plastic baby. Two people hold up the laundry line at either end and the third person, holding the baby, the cordless phone by her ear, hangs up the laundry with the pins. The person that can hold only everything without dropping anything for the longest amount of time wins.
2) You need rice and diaper pins/safety pins. You get two big bowls of uncooked rice and you dump a whole bunch of safety pins into them. Two people get blindfolded and have to find the pins in the rice. They have two minutes to do this.
3) Guessing nursery rhymes- write out lyrics to nursery rhymes and have teams of people guess them.
4) The girls guess-timate, using string, how wide the mommy's tummy is without actually measuring. Once everyone's got their string cut, they measure the string around the mom's tummy. The two ends must meet and cannot overlap. The one who is the closest wins.
