I have NEVER EVER been to a baby shower before. My friend who lives in a diff country will be having hers next month. I was only informed by our mutual friends a few days ago ( they’ve arranged it). I’m totally clueless as to what people buy as presents? Is it only meant to be presents for the baby or both? What kind of things shall I buy? Also what do people do at a baby shower?
Ask the organizers if there is a registry. If so, get something off that.
Usually it's gifts for the baby. If you know the gender it's helpful, but there's plenty of gender neutral things out there. If you're not sure what to get, just look for cute 100% cotton outfits.
As fornthe shower itself, usually there are games (like guessing the circumference of the mom's belly, dguessing number of safety pins in a jar, guessing baby food flavors). Also decorating plain onesies or bibs.
It'll be fun! Certainly nothing to be so stressed about!

If there’s no registry, its polite and considerate to include the gift receipt so they can exchange the gift for something they want… otherwise it will most probably just get forwarded to some else
One of my friends was kind enough to even include a gift for my daughter who was feeling really left out with all the baby gifts… it was just a barbie doll but I LOVED the gesture… if she has an older child, you might want to include an inexpensive gift for the sibling too.
If you’re buying clothes then buy according to the season baby will wear them…don’t forget to include a gift reciept. Other things you can get are recieving blankets, bibs, cute baby hats and mittens, socks, etc.
if you do buy clothes make sure they're in a larger size...not newborn size cuz too many people gift those n baby outgrows it before they can all be worn even once.
