Baby shower

All the mummies I need your help :frowning:

I have NEVER EVER been to a baby shower before. My friend who lives in a diff country will be having hers next month. I was only informed by our mutual friends a few days ago ( they’ve arranged it). I’m totally clueless as to what people buy as presents? Is it only meant to be presents for the baby or both? What kind of things shall I buy? Also what do people do at a baby shower?

Re: Baby shower

Ask the organizers if there is a registry. If so, get something off that.

Usually it's gifts for the baby. If you know the gender it's helpful, but there's plenty of gender neutral things out there. If you're not sure what to get, just look for cute 100% cotton outfits.

As fornthe shower itself, usually there are games (like guessing the circumference of the mom's belly, dguessing number of safety pins in a jar, guessing baby food flavors). Also decorating plain onesies or bibs.

It'll be fun! Certainly nothing to be so stressed about!

Re: Baby shower

I had to send a baby gift to a friend in Canada, so I just a photo album and a blanket/breadspread set.

Re: Baby shower

Awwww thanks guys! I'm going to try and find out if there's a registry.

Re: Baby shower

If there’s no registry, its polite and considerate to include the gift receipt so they can exchange the gift for something they want… otherwise it will most probably just get forwarded to some else :cb:

One of my friends was kind enough to even include a gift for my daughter who was feeling really left out with all the baby gifts… it was just a barbie doll but I LOVED the gesture… if she has an older child, you might want to include an inexpensive gift for the sibling too.

Re: Baby shower

MIAinVA no this is her first child. I checked and there's no registry. I asked around for some ideas and some people suggested;

Diaper bag
Blanket
Soft toys
Clothes

She hasn't bought anything yet so I guess I could buy her any of the above =)

Re: Baby shower

What’s your budget? If it’s a close friend I suggest get something that will last for a while…something like a playpen(I recieved this one as a gift and my baby loves it http://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Love-Gymini-Deluxe-Lights/dp/B000067K0L/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1285947968&sr=1-9 ) or a swing or exersaucer!

If you’re buying clothes then buy according to the season baby will wear them…don’t forget to include a gift reciept. Other things you can get are recieving blankets, bibs, cute baby hats and mittens, socks, etc.

Re: Baby shower

if you do buy clothes make sure they're in a larger size...not newborn size cuz too many people gift those n baby outgrows it before they can all be worn even once.
