How can it be customized to have a desi feel to it? Also for a person who is very demure and shy and does not want to openly share her ‘wishlist’ how can i get the friends and family to join heads to treat her to all that she would need for her first baby.

hmmm- what if we combined the desi tradition of Goad Bharai with a Baby shower to make it closer to home? All the ladies can dress up in their finest formal kapras, we can perhaps sing songs with the dhol and then do all the baby item gifting???

If you can get your hands on the wishlist, you can send out an e-mail or set up a web site with the information so that ppl can access it. Another way is to get the wishlist, cut up the names of the items into tiny strips and have the guests draw the items out of a hat. This requires some organization because you’d have to meet up with the guests to do this.

Desi's should not have baby showers. First you have to give them on baby shower and then on aqiqa...
anyhow as far your question goes... just talk to her in general about the baby and preparations and it should give you a clue of what she has and what she needs, etc. May be share your experience with her like what things you had prepared for the baby., etc etc..
