My family and I are throwing a baby shower for my bhabi. We’re doing the typical desi one (ghod barayi) where we put fruits in her lap etc. What else is there that we should get besides the fruit and decorations? We’re also having a small Milad so we’re thinking of making small gajras for the people attending and a haaar for my SIL. We also have cake were going to cut.
What did you guys do at your baby shower? Do you guys have any unique ideas from your shower or ones you have attended?
You can still mix up the non desi games.
How about baby food tasting, or changing diapers the fastest or my personal favorite -- drinking out the bottle fastest.
I wish it was that simple lol. My SIL is having two baby showers. One from our side and one from her side. Our shower is more like a religious event because we're having a milaad and then a ghod barayi which will take like 15 min. After that maybe we can play games, but it maybe kind of awkward because there going to be a bunch of Auntys.
Her other shower is in a hall and is a week after ours. Why we couldn't combine the showers is beyond me
Why dont u guys combine? Both sides together.. usually thats how it is done... bith mil and mother of the pregnant woman alongwith the closest friends circle... start with a milad and then get right into western baby shower?
There is nothing religious bout godh bharayi. Its not even permitted in islam. Fruits and whatnot.. really? Maybe skip that part, not waste time and just enjoy the fun and games.
Auntys are the BEST at baby showers. Dont fret.

Yes!! Initially there was no ghod barayi, there was a milaad and a small dua and we would cut the cake etc. Now, all my chachis and Phuppos are like why don't you do a ghod barayi as well. It's literally just putting fruit in her lap and plus her mom is doing one as well so why shouldn't we. It's turned into a competition which always happens. At this point, we have the milaad first, then the ghod barayi and then cake cutting. That's the order we have so far. We can have games between the cake cutting and food. My moms friends are pretty funny and would go along well with the games plus there us cousins and a bunch of younger people so it would work well. I'm just afraid people will get tired and then just leave though
Maybe u can have stations so people can do things as they please. Ex: head band decorating station, onsie signing station, making an alphabet book using that guests can drawings for the alphabets, cupcake decorating station.
Also maybe do a theme and have a dessert station with everything in that color (ex: cupcakes, cakepops, chocolate covered strawberries using the specific colored chocolate, gumballs, lemonade/punch, etc

We had our bhabi's shower today. It was a lot of fun actually. We did the milaad first and then the ghod barayi. We cut the cake then and by that time people were pretty hungary so we just served the good. We didn't get to play games but over all I think people had a good time. The biggest hit were the cupcakes we passed out as favors. They were a mix of vanilla and chocolate with a mix of pink and blue frosting with yellow ducks on top.
