Re: baby shopping online+Check List
^ you mean clothing wise or things for the nursery or what?
babiesrus.com is my go-to store/site these days.
basics that i’ve personally found to be necessities for me and the kid are:
– wipes warmer – my baby hates cold wipes and he’d get SO upset during diaper changes but once we got the warmer, he was so relaxed and not uncomfortable. i have the Safety 1st warmer, but i can’t find it on the website, so here’s an alternate- Toysrus.com, The Official Toys”R”Us Site - Toys, Games, & More – Toys"R"Us
– halo sleepsack – this one is a LIFEsaver, i swear. its the number one thing i recommend to all my friends since using it with baby. swaddling in blankets was a humongous pain in the bum and i never got the hang of it- his shoulders would be free, he’d be flailing, i’d be sleep-deprived and crying, it was stupid. this is easy peasy! you zip them in, wrap them velcro tabs around them and done. and they love it, they’re so warm and cosy in it. definitely get at least one of these. Toysrus.com, The Official Toys”R”Us Site - Toys, Games, & More – Toys"R"Us
for clothes, shop Baby Gap- always really cute stuff. Gymboree is also good. I haven’t bought anything from Children’s Place yet but I’ve heard its not that great quality-wise. my aunt in the US recommended Hanna Andersson for really good clothes too- http://www.hannaandersson.com
if you’re in the States, check Target.com, but they only ship to the US though, not internationally just yet. i love all of the Dwell Studio for Target stuff. i just bought crib bedding (Dwell Studio Space bedding) from there- its really cute and very good quality. J Crew has cute stuff too- http://www.jcrew.com/kids-clothing.jsp

I had the zelcro swaddle blanket too for baby number 2, gosh loved it. SGC Children's place's quality has improved a lot now. I also love Carter's. Their sizes run big so good for bigger babies. Also, the quality is good ( looks good after numerous washes) and the prices low.

Check out this thread: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/parenting/360503-baby-essentials-shopping-and-registries.html
Also, here’s a good checklist as you’re buying baby stuff and registering for baby showers. But you don’t need it all right when baby is born: http://www.buybuybaby.com/regchecklist.asp?
Re: baby shopping online+Check List
The link shared by sahar is very helpful in deciding what to buy and what not to buy!!
Are you getting any hand me downs from cousins/freinds? I am getting some like wipe warmers, bassinet, swing, bath tub etc just because I dont know if I will need any of these or not.. I have heard love and hate reviews about pretty much all of that so when I was offered some, I took it.. who knows if my baby will like the swing or not so instead of investing into one, it's better to have it from soemone that you can return if not needed.
I am buying the chicco car seat.. no stroller yet!
Got the crib.. DaVinci, found a very good deal at Babies R us with the mattress!
for diapers.. we have registered ourselves at amazon mom.. you can save at least 30% on diapers from there and it will be delievered home! Intend to buy pampers swaddlers!
I bought a lot of clothes from Carters, gymboree, baby gap, and Children's place.. including some for next year! oh and also most of these wer ebought at the outlet stores except carters which were mostly from Macys!
I have bought 10 pairs in new born size! about 15-20 in 0-3 months and 30 in 6-9 months.. I bought a lot of 6-9 months at the end of summer season sale from the above mentioned stores!
Last week Target had a really good clearance so I picked up a bunch of onesies, sleeping sacks (that SGC showed for 5 bucks on clearance), and two hooded towels ( for 2 bucks- that was all left there :D)
We are not buying any bedding set because of the price considering we dont want the bumper pad or even the quilt that comes in it.. so I will be buying lots of fitted sheets for the crib mattress and a breathable bumper from Babies R us.
Will share more later...
Re: baby shopping online+Check List
^ pampers swaddlers are the BEST diapers! we started him off with some huggies we'd gotten from a friend who'd bought way too many for her kid and they were terrible. the kid kept peeing himself, poor thing. swaddlers are lighter and softer and very absorbent. they only come in size 1 and 2 though and then you have to switch to pampers cruisers. hopefully they're just as good! i wish amazon.ca did the diaper thing....
oh, and GTG, for wipes, i keep hearing rave reviews about the kirkland brand from costco. once our current stock runs out, i'm definitely going to buy a pack from there.
also, GTG, for the bedding, i just put up the kid's target bedding and it is SUPER cute, and actually, what i realised is that a) the crib is quite roomy inside so the bumper takes up very little real estate, and b) the bumper itself is not a huge fluffy thing, or at least this one isn't. point is, the safety issue with the bumper i think is more valid for when they move around, i'm thinking, not at newborn stage, in case you do run into a crib set you love. having said that, i also paid $80 for it so if it doesn't work, i have no problems with not using the bumper. if i'd paid $300, i'd be upset.

good to know! i'll have to check it out next time i'm at the mall.
Re: baby shopping online+Check List
Yeah, I didn't find the bumpers to be scary. Newborns don't move that much. And older kids can move about. It helps keep them from bumps and bruises.
As for the wipes warmer, we didn't get one and it's cuz we rarely use wipes, unless we're out side somewhere. When we're at a house, we simply wash her in the sink with warm water. Keeps her nice and clean and comfy and rash free.

i do that too, but i prefer to wipe up the majority of the mess first- its way too gross otherwise :p
Re: baby shopping online+Check List
^hehe, I use the diaper for that.
Re: baby shopping online+Check List
Definitely go to Outlet mall for baby clothes. You get good deals! Where do you live??
