baby registry?!?!!?

I have a silly question.. do you guys have any sample baby registries that you used?? I mean what kind of stuff did you put in registry? and what did you buy yourself???

I have heard that you get 10% off your registry items if there are items left in there.. would it look silly to put $100 or more stuff in there?

Honestly I dun mind buying everything for my baby but I have friends and family who are too eager to buy things and I would rather have them buy stuff that I want than the items I may never use like diaper genie, wipe warmer etc!!! but I dunno what is the usual price range for registries since it will be for everyone?

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

My carseat, stroller, etc was also on my registry. It was also a way that we used to track what we needed to get for the baby. I think it's okay to put it all on there. The only thing I didn't put on was the breast pump, cuz I felt it was too personal an item, but a lot women do include it on their registries.

I had things that were $10-$300. The key is to have variety, and a lot of items in the $20-50 range, cuz that's what most people spend.

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

exactly my thoughts.. I just didnt want to come across like a rude person to my colleagues or such that oh god does she want us to buy a stroller whereas I very well know a family friend who wants to so I just want it to look decent!!

Do you have the list of things that you had on your registry??? Where did you register? Babies R US?

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

I agree with Sahar. Go ahead put everything except personal items like diapers, wipes, breast pump etc. Its okay to put high priced items too even when you know someone like your mom or someone close who'll just give it you. Its a good way of keeping track of what you need after all the gifts. I also put "gifts cards are welcome" in my registry.. i got a lot of them, more so then the gifts. I am glad I did that.

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

GtG: I’ll let you know whatever I can remember. I registered at Buy Buy Baby, a shop in this area. They had everything (as does Babies R Us), but it is walking distance from our house, so we thought it would be easiest for us. Initially I thought about registering at multiple places, but we didn’t end up needing to, as prices weren’t that different.

Here’s a registry checklist: http://www.buybuybaby.com/regchecklist.asp?
CLOTHING
*A couple cute onesies that I liked at the shop
*Plain white onesies for 0-3 months (we ended up getting newborn ones too, cuz our daughter was born early)

FEEDING
*a set of bottles
*bottle cleaner brush
*a spoon I had seen my cousins use that you squeeze to push out mashed foods
*cotton bibs (nothing fancy, as those are not as useful as the plain cotton ones)
*Boppy pillow
*Boppy pillow cover
*high chair (or smaller feeding chair that can be attached to a regular dining chair, if you are low on storage space). We got a FisherPrice space saver that also reclines for infants.
*bottle drying rack
*freezer storage cubes for baby food
*food processor for baby food (you can really use any food processor you have)

BEDDING
*cotton receiving blankets like these: http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=125247& They are very handy to wrap baby, give light cover, put on changing tables, etc and easy to keep in your bag.
*A couple fitted sheets for the crib mattress
*A couple fitted sheets for the bassinett
*crib bedding set
*crib mobile
*mattress pad

CLEANING/BATHING/WIPING
*Changing table pad
*Changing table covers
*Diaper bag
*bathtub (We got a Fisherprice one)
*hooded bath towel
*small cotton washcloths, lots!

MISCELLANEOUS
*Health care kit like this: http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=16464988&
*Humidfier that looked like an elephant (it sucked, btw, we had to get a different one)
*picture frames
*frame for footprints (tho the hospital didn’t even do that :frowning: )
*BundleMe for strollers and carseats in the winter (come in infant and toddler sizes; I’m not sure if you can use the toddler one for the infant)
*baskets for the baby’s room
*Activity pad/play gym
*A couple classic children’s books that were available at that shop

BIG ITEMS
*crib mattress
*stroller
*car seat

OTHER ITEMS that you could put on your registry, but we ended up getting ourselves or receiving as gifts:
*bassinet
*crib
*changing table/dresser combo
*bottle warmer
*breast pump
*nursing cover
*pumping top (it’s a tight tank top with holes that holds the pump in place. A silly overpriced item, but really helpful if you’re pumping – leaves your hands free!)
*mittens for newborn
*safety gates
*plug covers
*swing
*rocker/glider for baby
*nursing bras and tops
*glider and ottoman
*baby carrier, like a Baby Bjorn

THINGS WE DIDN’T GET that you might want to use and put on your registry
*diaper genie
*bottle sterilizer
*bouncer
*photo albums
*lamps for the baby’s room
*wall decor for baby’s room
*stroller accessories
*Snap-n-go

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

I'll message u so u can look at mine if u like. I asked mom-friends of mine to go and add/ remove bits.

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

oh woww girls.. thank you soooo much!!!

Sahar.. that was helpful.. I am copy pasting that!!!

SGC.. thank you.. I am looking at your Babies R US registry right now and I am in loveee with the stuff... cant wait to have my baby here!!!

It definitely gives me an idea about the "diversity" of items and prices.. I never looked at the registries before the way I do now!!!

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

^ Just added one more thing (the Baby Bjorn/baby carrier)

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

So now I’m looking at the boba carrier vs the ergo… It would be awesome to get either as a shower gift.

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

Oh Gia...also add bebe pod I love this item. I just bought it for Aizah!

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

Yikes! How can a teeny tiny baby need so many things?! This is overwhelming. I am just going to remain blissfully ignorant for now!!

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

I posted this in another thread, but I would recommend that you go to the store 2-3 times with 2-3 different people and walk around and let THEM guide you. Try to go with people who have had babies recently so that you have fresh and realistic perspectives. You can only think of so many things ahead of time but walking through the store with a friend as they point at random things and say "OH yes, don't forget this or that which I can't live without" is invaluable input.

Re: baby registry?!?!!?

SGC--for some reason I wasnt able to open ur registry:(

Thanks so much for your input--aahmed
