Yes, I only put the money amount up cause someone asked. I want to get something of sentimental value that will remind her of her Aunty Mehnaz across the Atlantic.
How about something that can be personalised, like a silver baby rattle with the name and a message engraved on it?
Any items of clothing are always a safe bet, but I presume you want something a bit more individual and I expect everyone'll be buying clothes.
Other suggestions you might consider are a subscription to a parenting magazine, baby aromatheraphy kit, organic baby toiletries, a photo album or frame.
Or you could just ask your friend if there's anything that she particularly wants or needs for the baby?
Shahreen, I was thinking of getting the baby rattle from Tiffany's and having it engraved with the baby's name. Realistically though, what an unpractical gift.
I like the Parenting magazine subscription. She's in London so what are good magazines over there?
I have also asked her what she wants. Let's see what she says.
What’s wrong with my suggestion? ![]()
Maybe because it came from you FG?
While I understand people in england are not that talented, I am sure a few of them might go to college and similar plans might be available.
I have the Tiffany rattle and admittedly it is a bit impratical - just another thing for me to dust and polish really - it does have great sentimental value.
Mother and Baby is probably the most popular magazine around in the UK. And I know they do subscriptions.

I've an issue with this magazine title. Where is the father? or maybe fathers don't play a role in the UK...
Mehnaz get married and get the baby a little baby friend to play with real quick :D
i liked funguy’s suggestions :k:
u could get one of the baby books where they can record the baby’s first everything.. they’re very cute and sentimental
I sent my nephew an engraved photo album. It said "Rayyan's 1st year" and it was sweet to see it sitting in his room when I went to visit him :)
Engraving is the best option I think due to its sentimental value :)
my friend had her baby 3 months ago and i bought clothes
you can get these white woolen clothes suitable for both boys and girls, theyre very pretty and extremely cute - make sure you buy the shawl!
try a department store, they probably have an online selection - good luck!
Thank you so much for your suggestions everybody.
Qrius, thank you for the PM and links. ![]()
Mehnaz, what did you get in the end? (I know, I'm so nosy)
I haven't gotten anything yet. I still have a few weeks but I'm gonna look into the parenting magazine and some wool clothing sets. I am also going to look into getting the baby a bond but I don't know how that will work.
Yesterday, I also saw these truly gorgeous, hand-made baby books (like a photo album, scrap books) that had all this embroidery on it (a little baby carriage embroidered in the centre). It is sooooo pretty. I will definitely get that set. I really like the baby magazine idea too though.
If you're thinking of getting clothing and if you have the budget then think about getting something extra special like a set of cashmere babygros.......they are almost as soft and cuddly as the baby wearing them.
