Yeah right.
I have been hearing for some time that its a religious tradition in Pakistan that when a baby is born, the maulvi sahab comes and opens the Quran on a random page, and based upon what he sees there, he picks out a few names and the parents have to pick from those names.
Now, is this Islamic? Did the Prophet do this with his kids? Was it recommended to others?
Or is this another one of our stupid Pakistani traditions passed off in the name of Islam?
I heard my parents had my name taken from quran and they wanted to have me name Kashif (now that is not in Quran) but my grand father named me Anwar... errm but he was not a maulvi, he was a principal in a school.
Seriously, I wonder where are such questions coming from smack ?
my dad chooz me the weirdest but rare names ever .. first he named me ZAVAR .. i mean cmon .. ive never heard of that name ever in my 18 yrs of lyfe and then he gave me the name S**** ... which sounds more like a christain name but meaning is orignal. ohh i know some molvi chose it for me , actualy he chose the starting urdu elphabet only and my dad chooz the real name .. no idea how that works though.
