Re: baby name zarish

Re: baby name zarish

I'm not sure, but i think Zarish is a Muslim name... i know many people in pakistan with this name..

Re: baby name zarish

I think it's more Persian than Arab, because it is known that the Arabic Language does not have a female noun equivalent to Za' word unless you use the letter Zw' and Eeyn or Alif.

You could have Zerish, Zeerish, Zaresh, ect. Zarish is only possible with an Alif, however if we take the name Zarish it sounds distincly Masculine.

Unless you pronounce it Zareesh and then perhaps it sounds more feminine... either way I cannot think of an Arab noun or Verb that comes close to Zarish.

Zar is a Persina noun however and often is asscoiated with the word for Gold Zarr'.

I think Zarish is a nice name however and if you take it as Persian Zarish would mean full of Gold or Golden.

Now that is a very sweet name. I will however advise you to go by your hearts felling since I am no Alim and I am not an expert, i am fammiliar with Arabic and Farsee but far from being an expert and pray some day I will be more skilled with those languages.

Re: baby name zarish

Yes that would explain my Perian theory, many people in Pakistan have Persian influenced names, Farsee having once been the forerunner to modern Urdu.

As far as Islamic name is concerned I think it's still a very sweet name and is perfectly fine. Zerish or Zarish is a popular name used to denote somone wealthy or lucky.

Re: baby name zarish

Thanks Faris Udeen

do you think its ok to name the baby Zarish?

actually i dont understand one thing...i usually here names should be a muslim name so my question is how are muslim names? and how do we know its muslim name?

i also hear like if the name is not a muslim name then something can happen to the baby...

Re: baby name zarish

^ nothing wll happen to the baby if its not a "Muslim" name. what happens to the baby is written in their Qismat and thats not something we decide.
a "Muslim" name has a good/positive meaning. thats it. its not restricted to culture or geographical area since Muslims are all over the world.

what I found for Zarish was that it was an Australian baby boy's name and it means "shining flower".
if you are uncertain about the meaning, and its something that matters to you, ask someone from your local mosque to verify.

Re: baby name zarish

Well said :k:

Personally I think all names are okay so long as they are not indecent or Islamicly unnaceptable. For example in Germany many male names have the word Swine, Svien, Swiess or Sevine which obviously they dont mind Swine being a symbol of power and masculinity… however few Muslims would want to call thier child after an animal that is objectionable.

I see no reason to object to any decent name and Zarish has nothing un-Islamic about it. There really no such thing as an “Islamic name” unless that name or title was specificly named after a famous Muslim… many of the first Muslim converts and reverts had names which pre-dated Islam. That said my own ancestors retained names that were non Arabic and often seemed questionable.

I know many Muslim Rajputs who kept thier original surnames and even first names…

As somegroovychick said best to ask your local Alim. From what I know Zarish is not a bad name and sounds good. I would not object to naming my own child that name if i had no more ideas.

Re: baby name zarish

In my eyes, 'Islamic' names are the names belonging to prominent Islamic personalities, like Muhammad, Ali, Umar, Fatima, Zainab etc etc. Otherwise all names derive from language.

In my view, I think its important to give your child a name he/she can relate to, a name that reflects its heritage and belonging. For example, I know quite a few 'goras' with non anglicised names, whever you ask about the origins of their name, they say with a flicker in their eyes 'oh its an Irish name, my mother was Irish, its an Italian name my father was an Italian, its a Russian name, as my ancestors were Russian Jews etc. So I think its important to give child a name with a meaning and purpose, me being a Muslim Pakistani Punjabi, I'm not gonna give my child a Polish name just because it sounds so 'new'. I don't want my child to shrug his shoulders and say I don't know when asked about having such an 'unusual' name. I rather give him a Balochi name as its still part of our Pakistani heritage...something we and our child could so relate to.

Re: baby name zarish

^ what if its really hard to pronounce in english and you live abroad? or what if it sounds ridiculous in english? my husband's cousin is hungarian and named his son Nimrod. in hungarian, its pronounced Nim-road, and doesn't have the negative connotations it does in English. in north america, the kid would get made SO Much fun of- its like naming your child Idiot or Slow. what happens then?
i think it clearly says in religious texts that islamic/muslim names must first and foremost have good meanings, they shouldn't be named after celebrities or other people who are morally corrupt or indecent (i.e. why naming children after prophets, and angels is the way to go if you are going to name them after someone), and they should sound nice too and not like something questionable like Faris' example above of german names that sound like swine.

Re: baby name zarish

^ Well there are plenty of Desi, Arabic, Persian names that don't sound ridiculous in English and easy enough to pronouce.

Re: baby name zarish

i just had a baby girl 2 weeks ago and we named her Zarish although i could not find the exact meaning online i was informed by someone who had the same name that it meant unique.
In persian zar means gold there is also an austrilian meaning of the name which is a shinning flower, to us it really didn't matter where the name originated frm or what it means as we liked the name so much i prayed to God that the name should our daughter and b lucky for her, so far things r great alhumdulliah

if u like the name just have faith in Allah and keep it:)

Re: baby name zarish

ps muslim names r those names which r found in the Quran or frm the holy prophet pbuh family for eg zainab khadija fatima marium etc just cuz a name is arabic or persian doesn't necessaryly mean its a muslim name so if one can keep a persian or arabic non muslim name why not a greek or a name frm another culture ??

Re: baby name zarish

In Persian, Zar means bitter/bitterly, Zari means to weep, Zarkash means to kill ..

Zaish hardly sounds like a good name to me.

Re: baby name zarish

zaish is a name? neva even heard of it:)

Re: baby name zarish

^ I meant Zarish, not zaish :D

Re: baby name zarish

so naming a child in islam can be Arabic and Persian names right?
