Which one of these is a muslim name? I read somewhere mikal has a meaning along the line ‘like God’ .. but many muslims have this name. Is Mika’il the right name or Mikal?
Any thoughts?

my cousin's name is spelt mikyle and its me-ka-eel as in michael as in the angel.
mikal pronounced mik-al and might be swedish? the main guy character in the girl with the dragon tattoo novels had this name.

His name was Carl Mikael. Pronounced as Meeka-el and is the swedish version of Michael, the angel.
Just wanted to clear that.

His name was Carl Mikael. Pronounced as Meeka-el and is the swedish version of Michael, the angel. Just wanted to clear that.

Mikaal is the name of one of the characters in Annie ki ayegi baraat.. it will probably become popular among ppl who watch the drama.

I'm finding this name very conflicting. Yes Mikael is the sweedish version of Michael. Ive never seen Michaeel as a muslim pakistani name, have heard of many Mikaal's though , Like Mikaal Hassan band etc.

^ no swedish here, but it had subtitles and was so fantastic that we ended up watching all three of the originals, and being suitably horrified when hollywood decided to remake them. we chose not to watch them. no one can be lisbeth salandar like the original lisbeth salandar

The name Mikal is becoming quite popular. Its actually more common in Pakistanis than Mikaeel!

i think Mikaal is the abbreviated or Anglicized version version of Mikaa'eel [Arabii]. it's NOT a traditional Muslim name...it may be a modern version.
