baby name meaning

Salamualaikum,
Inshallah I will be having a baby girl soon and am trying to find a good name with good meaning.
I have searched throughout this forum dealing with baby girl names.

I like the name Fareesa but surprisingly I cannot find its meaning from a reliable source on the web.
Does anyone know the meaning of Fareesa/ Farisa/ Fariza?
Please help me out if you know the meaning.

Jazakallah Khair.

Re: baby name meaning

^ where did you hear the name? are you sure its not just a made up name? i can't find anything online either... perhaps check a baby names book at your local library or bookstore?

as an alternative, i've heard of Parisa/Pareesa. its persian and means "like a fairy".

Re: baby name meaning

The sites I visited say it means "Prey" - better get it checked by knowledgeable person or scholar.

Re: baby name meaning

Thank you guys for looking into it for me. Those were the results I was getting also.
My grandmother recommended the name for me. She said she will ask a scholar for the meaning
I really liked it because it goes with my husband and my name: Farhana and Sardar
Do you guys have suggestion for any names that go with our names? i know the name does not have to go with our names.. but I would really like that.
let me know any suggestions :)

Re: baby name meaning

Re: baby name meaning

Re: baby name meaning

i know a faseeha...and she's a very smart, accomplished, respectful young gal :)

Re: baby name meaning

Farial
Fatima
Faneeza
Afshan :)

Re: baby name meaning

How about Fadia?

Re: baby name meaning

how about faiza or fauziya.

Re: baby name meaning

i think farisa is a variant of the male name faris...

how about fadhila(virtuous), sahar, manaal(achievement) or sumaiyya

Re: baby name meaning

Firasha....means butterfly in Arabic.

it depends on the pronounciation, i think...

faris is FA-ris and so it would be FA-rissa.

when i saw Farisa though, i thought it would be more like fa-REE-sa. which would have a different meaning then, no?

Re: baby name meaning

^as far as i know it’s faaris and faarisa…never heard of farissa

my guess is that faarisa and fareesa most probably have a different meaning:hmmm:
