baby kicks

when did you become really aware of the baby kicking inside, and have you ever panicked if you think you havent heard the baby move for a while…did you ever get worried…
im not worried, sometimses il panic if i think i cant feel it, then alhuldulilah il feel movement and il breathe a sigh of relief…is this normaL?

also the only position comfy to sleep in , is on my side, but almost on the stomach, i have been told sleeping on belly doesnt affect baby, however my husband doesnt beleive it…???

Re: baby kicks

Side is best (especially left side).

I felt my kicks from weeks 15ish I think. But yeah, I worried if I hadn't felt it for a while. Welcome to mommy hood with all it's paranoia. ;)

as in, side is best to feel the kicks?

I usually poke the baby a bit to get it to respond, and drinking orange juice gets my baby all hyper and moving.

Re: baby kicks

Sleeping on the stomach is fine as long as you are comfortable. There will come a point where you just wouldn't be able to do it anymore and get really uncomfortable.

i think i first felt the kicking from my 5th month ...

and i DO get worried if i havent felt him moving for a while .. but i guess thats normal :) ... but that doesnt happen a lot as my baby mashallah is very active and hyper all the time ...

and abt the sleeping thing, i can only say that even sleeping on the side sometimes can be such a challenge ... so uncomfortable and when u finally find the right position to fall asleep in, you have to go to the loo ..
such a battle some nights ...

Tell me about it....

Re: baby kicks

I think I started feeling kicks during my 5th month. My sister told me a few signs of the movements in 4th month and I used to feel them. I do get worried if I don't feel any movements but so far I haven't been getting panic.

As far as the sleeping position matter is concerned then here I have to agree with Honey*19. Sometimes I really want to sleep on my back but can't do so. Also I read somewhere that if you typically sleep on your back, it's safe to continue doing so through the first trimester. But as the uterus gets heavier in the second trimester, it's best to choose another position.
When you lie on your back, your uterus presses on the vein that returns blood from your lower body to your heart. Lying on your back for an extended period of time could interfere with the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta and your developing baby.

Doctors mostly recommend to sleep on your side.

Re: baby kicks

I also started feeling the kicks in my 5th month and MashaAllah this baby is very active, keeps kicking ALL the time ...... my firstborn was a very lazy baby, I felt her kicks for the first time in the 7th month and they were very irregular, sometimes I wouldn't feel any kicks./movement for weeks. You should see her now at 4 years of age, MashaAllah she's smarter than most kids her age but still very very lazy :p

yaar i feel ur pain i have the same problem but with me its every night and i cant sleep on my right side the baby starts kicking......ALOT

and i also do poke my belly when ever i cant feel the baby

Re: baby kicks

i guess we all are dealing with the same things the last 2-3 months make us go tru ...

i sometimes even notice that if i lie flat on my back for a while my heartbeat gets really fast and i immediately have to change position ...

another thing i wanted to ask u ladies, do u feel any abdomen pain like period cramps sometimes ?

Re: baby kicks

i m in 1st trimster having same sleeping problems.........thinking of buying maternity pillow this weekend hope so it helps..............

yup i also feel cramps sometimes but its normal its just the size of uterus increasing.........

Doctors discourage lying on your back in late pregnancy in particular, because the weight of the uterus can obstruct blood flow.

Those last 2-3 months make women look forward to labor.

For lying down

Wait till you feel the cramps of uterus going back to it’s original size. Now those were some bad cramps. :bummer:

Re: baby kicks

why can't I have a stork deliver my baby sigh
I haven't gotten a single stitch ever and I'm sooo freaked out at the thought of an episiotomy or c-section stitches and the pain in them :s

^^ … awww … :hugz: Dun worry, i know its easy to say,not to … :bummer:

.. Its gonna be my first time as well and even i am scared to hell but i really avoid thinking abt the actual labour, cuz u havent experienced it before so u dun know what to expect …

So wheneva u get those scary thoughts again just pray that may ALLAH make it easy for u in every way … Pray as much as you can …

May ALLAH give u the strenght for everything which is abt to come ur way …

yeh if i lie on my back i feel my breathing go all funny, has to be side only.

i dnt feel cramps like that, only slight stomach aches some times like ive ate something funny...

Re: baby kicks

I started feeling the kicks around 5 months I think. I did freak out if I didn't get kicks for a while.. infact once I even got an ultrasound just to make sure things were okay because I was freaking out. A good way to get the baby going is by having peanut butter and jelly sandwich :).. Oh i miss being pregnant!

I bought a maternity pillow in my first trimester, it was the greatest purchase I ever made. I bought this one: Amazon.com
Its awesome, I have no issues with sleeping… although I don’t use it the way its pictured… I turned it round and use my regular pillow under my head :p.
