My baby is 2.5 months old. I started off with pampers which gave him diaper rashes switched to huggies with leak guard and we have been fine. Because of his initial rash..i used aveeno, desitin, A+d and nothing worked until the doc told me about Triple paste rash cream and i tell you it is the best thing available. So, instead of wasting money on other creams just start off with the best.
For wipes, i usually wash him but when i do use the wipes i am using the sensitive by pampers and dipping them in warm water just to get whatever chemicals out and then using to clean.
For pacifiers, Muzna is right. It's best not to introduce one at all. Fortunately my son does not like it to begin with.
And in the first few weeks....we had hand sanitizers all over our home because of all the ppl visiting. Some did not have a problem with it but some got really offended. Oh, well...i had to do what was in the best interest of my son.
As for sleeping....well welcome to sleepless nights for the first 2 months atleast.....because the baby will nurse every 2 hours. But, you will be fine, InshaAllah!!
Your friend is right.
I was never picky about things like that.
I learned from my SIL who was anal about germs and cleanliness with her two older boys…and both of them were constantly sick…had all sorts of ENT infections throughout childhood and other conditions in adult life. The youngest son was raised mostly by my mother…and she wasn’t over-protective. He’s healthy and strong as a bull!
I took a page from ammi’s book and exposed Noor to everything as soon as I could…let her build up her immune system naturally. Even when I went to Pakistan, everyone was surprised at how I let her walk around barefoot and eat something even if it fell on the floor. (3 second rule y’know!)
I have to you about when I got pg with my 3rd. A friend told me that with the first baby, EVERYTHING gets sterilized, cleaned, steamed, vacuumed and washed. With the second one, a simple rinse under the faucet will do when a toy or bottle drops on the floor. With the 3rd, here comes the "5-second rule": If something is on the floor for less than 5 seconds, its ok to just give it back!!!
Always used pampers on my baby.....and water when she was younger. Didnt follow books and stuff on sleep cos my babe was the same as i was when i was baby(as mum says)-slept through from 6 weeks and has done ever since.
Ms A-S... just do what works for you and your baby. You'll be getting SO much "free" advice once the little one comes that you'll want to scream sometimes lol! Sometimes, huggies diapers are better and sometimes pampers....they're shaped differently so it depends on your baby's shape. As far as wipes etc...they just dont like the shock of cold and wet - so warm the wipe in your hands or get a wipe-warmer. If they dont have particular allergies or skin condition, the baby wipes are made for babies so if they're convenient for you, use them. If you dont mind extra laundry, then a wet warm cotton cloth is fine. I always found it a bit awkward to rinse babies butt under a faucet, but if this is comfortable for you then hey, you save money on wipees or time on laundry! It will take some time for you to get into your groove, find what works best but in the end, its you and your family...doing whats best for you.
ps Many congrats!! and may things go just beautifully for you!
any of u ever kiss ur babies or let otehrs kiss ur babies? I know other parents have the whle germ issue thing. My brother comes and just gives his baby a big sloppy kiss on the mouth (well it takes up his nose and muth and chin hehe) and he doesnt cry or whimper or anything, just stares up at him with these big huge eyes. hayeee i miss baby now :(
Use hand sanitizer always i know it looks rude but when my children were born i have to tell everyone to sanitize their hands. ANd when some ajnabi kiss ur children i had to wash them right away either with wipes or with water.
