Baby/Infant Care - Advice

Re: Baby/Infant Care - Advice

Water temperature can be controlled.....so even though it was winter when Noor was born (early February), I still used water. Think about it.....people that live in much more difficult conditions raise their kids with fewer conveniences.....those kids do just fine.

The cotton wool is a farce! I watched some other new moms follow book/doctor advice. They would use cotton wool....dip it in water.....wipe the bum.....more wool....more dipping.....more wiping. Gimme a break! Take a look at your own bum....does it look fine? Does it feel good? Do you think your mother used cotton wool???

And never, ever, ever give your baby a pacifier!!! You do it once and you are doomed.

As cute as they look, I never let one come near Noor. Nor did I let my sister use one with Sufiyaan. My mother warned me against them.....all the germs they carry, plus the habit that children form, sometimes kids will not take much needed nourishment and will prefer the pacifier, and there's the dreaded disfigurations of the jaw/lips/teeth that can be caused by pacifiers. Too many risks.
