anyone have one set up? would you recommend a particular type/brand? anything to watch out for? i need one for the entrance to baby’s room to keep the cats out and so we can have his door open at the same time.

I had those for each of my kids. I liked the wooden ones more due to their aesthetics and the fact that the white vplastic ones are harder to clean.

Ure gonna need one with narrow spaces between the bars so the cats cant get through… Ikea has some… We r now thinkinh of getting one cuz all my appliances are out and ready to go (a pregnancy must so the mr isnt called every day into the litchen 
)… And its getting kinda dangerous…Gonna go for the wooden ones…the plastic one looked so cheap and ew. And its even more imp that they open and close with one hand…the plastic one had me hopping and jumping..just wouldnt budge! Oh and cats know how to jump…mine did… The standard height is easily hoppable for a cat… Unless u have a lazy persian

If you want to keep the cats out then you need a glass or screen door installed. Trust me it is not that expensive and they can be taken out once they have served the purpose. Any traditional baby door will not help you at all. If the cats can climb a tree what will stop them from climbing a gate , specially if it is a curious cat. :D

i ended up getting this one- its white metal, 39" tall and is pressure mounted which we loved because it was so easy to install and we can move it anywhere in a snap. our cat, who can jump (the other one has leg issues so she can’t) is way lazy so i don’t think he’ll bother (i hope!). oh, and both the cats are too fat to squeeze anything beyond their heads between the bars haha
do you guys think climbing will still be an issue? its very smooth metal… what will they get a grip on?

khawa, this one opens and closes with one hand very easily. there was a foot pedal operated one but it wasn’t as high so i opted to get this one.
