Baby Food ...

Hi

I would like to have some baby food recipes for 1 yr old +

I am tired of giving mainly boiled stuff and I know she likes tasty food as sometimes I fry the veggies in little ghee.

Also, what is best way and age to get baby used to eating less mashed foods and eating finger foods…any tips. My daughter hates it when I dont blend the food entirely and I think it is now high time she should progress at 11 months.

Thanks

Re: Baby Food ...

my daugther is 10 months and she eats almost everything (Mash-Allah)
I dont have to mash food, infact she likes finger food the best. Also she only has to lower teeths till yet.
I think its different from baby to baby.
Try to boil rice and chicken in bits of masala.
Well its difficult to say anything as my daugthers eats everything that we do.
And she will not decline any food, so I am lucky.

Re: Baby Food ...

when my neices were young we used to give them bones of chicken, without the meat. the bones still had a bit of masala, and they could be used as teethers as well. so similarly you can do that, with meat or veggies, just wash it off a bit slightly, so the taste is still there, but it's not too spicy.

you can also start giving her fruit, or cereal, or just plain veggies. this baji i know said it's best to start getting them to eat by themselves at an early age, so you they don't get used to spoon feeding at a later age.

Re: Baby Food ...

you can do a lot of things for her…

try to blend things if she likes but gradually move from totally
blended to granulated…then to small pieces etc.

how about giving her khichri or blended daal chawal (you can boil those in chicken yakkni instead of normal water). You can give her
yogurt with fruits or vegetables..even cheese..chopped or blended.

you can give her mashed potatoes with keema... or even shami kababs blended with potatoes...or you can even take out kofta from the salan and add it potatoes or other vegetables..I did gave my son anything possible with chicken and keema...like adding daal chawal and qeema or chicken pieces and daal and keema with beans etc..and used to grind them in the chopper.

you can even add the boiled eggs with potatoes or vegetables and add a bit of salt and pepper and grind them to give to your daughter.

and my son also liked those soft noodles...so i used to add chicken and vegetables and some salt and pepper and used to put them in the chopper and used to give him. Maybe, you can try that too.. these were some of the things i gave my son around 9 months.

and i started with crackers and biscuits and then roti cucumber etc for finger foods....and then i started giving my son roti pieces dipped in daal with chunks of chicken..potatoes etc...and then moved on to normal food that we eat everyday.

Re: Baby Food ...

Thanks all..the idea of chicken bones sounds good. I o give khichdi and she loves it. Beans are ok to give now? I will definetly try that out. She loves to eat so I have to try out different foods now. Pls keep ideas coming It will help

Re: Baby Food ...

yes, beans are fine...actually your daughter can eat anything now at 11 months.

Re: Baby Food ...

i personally don't suggest frying the food in ghee. she's only a year old, and i don't think she needs any oil in her diet at such a young age.

as for other ideas, when my son was that age he'd usually eat whatever i was eating. so if it was rice for dinner, he'd have that. at the age your daughter is at, she's old enough to chew properly and swallow the food.

same thing with roti. just make small-sized 'burkiyan' with whatever the salan is (i.e. - keema, daal, etc) and it should work out fine.

and give fruit and veggies - grapes, apples, carrots, even cheese is a good idea. chop it up into tidbit size pieces, enough for her to chew with ease.

Re: Baby Food ...

One year old, she should be able to eat everything as others, no need top mesh them anymore, just give her whatever you eat.

Re: Baby Food ...

Wow...my topic got revived...and I remember the days she used to eat so well. I am now so worried cos she eats ABSOLUTELY nothing....she has milk and fruit and sometimes biscuits. She has her strength and her tummy seems clear.

It is kind of emotional related cos she even refuses to walk on her own and also cannot talk (except 3-5 words) She is now 19 months.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Very worried....

Re: Baby Food ...

I would suggest that you take her to the doctor & get it checked (just to ease your mind) and see what the doc has to say, or maybe make something that she'll to eat, as kid around this time of growing up stage they develop certain taste for sometime and then refuse to eat them, so try something different, if she likeks it give that to her, repeat this as long as she eats.
Being a mom is not a easy, one has to be very paitent and calm with the kids, otherwise they can drive you nuts.

Re: Baby Food ...

^^ Thanks ... I am giving her some homeopathic remedies for emotional upset and fear...It should take couple of days to see any effect. Hope that helps.

Re: Baby Food ...

you shouldn't worry too much if she isn't talking at this stage. 3-5 words is actually a lot. my neices are almost 2 now (21 months mashallah) and now they are beginning to actually say words, and not simply repeat them. kids grow at their own pace. as for the eating, same thing, it's a hassle just feeding them, but my cousin feeds them whatever they like, plus supplements with regular milk in their bottle. when everyone is eating we ask them if they want water or anything else, and if they don't say NO or don't make too much of a fuss we give it to them.

Re: Baby Food ...

Thanks... It does make sense as all the advice I am getting is to let her be and she will ask whenever she is hungry. The remedies seem to have a little effect and for the first time in ages she ate a meal.
