For the moms (or dads) that made homemade baby food did you use a baby food maker (like the one in the link) or did you just steam the food and use a blender / food processor ?
Re: Baby food maker
I got one and used it a couple times, but mostly we ended up just mashing or using the blender or food processor. I do have one and it worked fine:

Re: Baby food maker
I just used my regular blender and mini food processor. She outgrew very soon of purees and smooth textures,so I used to mash up stuff with a fork.
Re: Baby food maker
My mom has always just steamed and blended in a regular blender for all the babies so far.
Re: Baby food maker
I had the beaba baby food steamer and blender. Loved it. But u can essily get by without it.
Re: Baby food maker
Chips - how long before they grow out of the puree stage.
So from everyone's posts I gather that this is not really a neccessary purchase.
Re: Baby food maker
I think it is more of a personal choice for babies.Mine started to show interest in some textured foods around 9-10 months.Like,I used to make her rice and cook them for a while until they were like a mush. She preferred those over the smooth texture of rice cereal or blended rice.
I used to cook an apple till it was well done and mash it up.That was favored over the smooth apple puree.
See what your baby likes and go from there...:)
Its amazing to see that such young kids also show their intersets and have likes and dislikes....!
Re: Baby food maker
^Yeah, by 9 months she didn’t want purees. But I was still mixing fruit purees into her cereal. But by a year she wanted nothing to do with spoons and anything that required them. She’s still like that. ![]()
Re: Baby food maker
what about the baby bullet?
is it useful?
Re: Baby food maker
I have the same and worked out great!
I used it till she was around 8/ 9 months, after that it was just mashing with fork cuz she didn’t want mushed up food anymore.
