Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I started looking for things when I was 5 weeks pregnant!!! and I thought I knew exactly what I wanted.. at 16 weeks, I still haven't started shopping and now I am majorly confused on what to buy and what not to buy!!!

I intend to start buying furniture in July since we would have moved into a bigger place by then and will also know the gender, inshaAllah!!

i have been told by everyone to do shopping in second trimester.. in third, its really hard to move around let alone shop!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

o

oh, I just started by third tri, I think I should start now!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^^ I started shopping very late too. In my third trimester. It was cold weather here in NY so I wasn't really excited abt going out to shop in harsh weather and plus because I was avoiding buying a lot, I bought just what I needed in the third trimester. I think if I had started early, I would've bought a lot of baikar stuff. I made a list and did all of my shopping in just a month or two.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I think end of second tri is a good time. You still have some energy and the baby feels very real by that point!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

GTG I would suggest you come to NY for shopping at babies r us. They have a flagship store in Union Square, three floors. You'll find a huge variety here. I bought car seat/stroller and a lot of other things from here. Their second floor has a HUGE collection of car seats and strollers.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Spiral... and here I wasnt planning any trip to NY this summer but looks like we should :D

I cant wait to push all the strollers and lift all the car seats.. our Babies R us has like 10 strollers and 15 car seats.. no kidding!!!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I think UppaBaby Vista is a great stroller from infancy till they become a toddler. Don't underestimate the use of a stroller GTG. I know the baby is coming in winter but you would still want to go out for a change of surrounding such as just taking a stroll in the mall. Being couped up inside the house with the baby will depress you.

If you don't use a stroller, how are you planning on carrying the baby when you go out? Won't the car seat arrangement be heavy to lift everywhere.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

i dunno cherry.. I just dun like strollers but I know I will end up buying one!!!

I think strollers are bulky so I thought I may not need any for teh first few months... I am thinking of getting SNAP n GO for the car seat in case its needed.. again I believe it will be something that I will buy only after the baby is here!!

ps: with the winter that we have here, it will be unfair to my baby to take him/her outside.. we get snow in foot not in inches :D

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

started shopping in my third trimester due to scheduling constraints. One good thing is that I have been walking a lot (even if inside of the mall lol). Just got this set by peg perego in green:

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Blushing Whats it called??. Any link?

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^peg perego

They are available at buybuybaby–but you can get them cheaper at Amazon or Albebaby.com. Sleek strollers–not that heavy:)

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

oh I was just wondering the name of the style not brand but its okay I will look up.. I am making a list of strollers that I want to try before I buy one and was thinkin of adding this one in the list too.

Today I saw the bassinet stroller (or whatever you call them) and it loooked sooo cute but I am sure it will be no good in the long run!!!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

This thread should be made sticky :D

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I bought a car seat and a graco stroller frame for my baby when he was born. Now he is a little over 2 months. I am looking into light weight strollers. I know for sure that I am getting Maclaren. There are so many different kind of Maclaren strollers. Does anyone know which one is best kind? I have elimated Volvo just because I don't think that'll give my kiddo enough support. Anyone done research on strollers, specially Maclarens?

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Gemini--its the Vela 2011 model

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

reason why we didnt get a MacClaren was because it's had quite a few recalls in the past few years. Uppa Baby and Peg Perego have lightweight umbrella strollers. SGC said that everyone she knew with an Uppa Baby loved theirs:):)

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^^^ I want something that would recline too. I don't really know if Peg Perego or Uppa baby recline all the way. I go to Manhattan a lot, sometimes alone so I wanted something very small and light weight that I won't have problem taking out of the car and trying to fit into small stores and doorways here. I see most people with Maclaren here in NY. Now that you mentioned, I'll look into the other two brands too to see if they have all what i am looking for.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Found some really helpful Uppa Baby G- luxe reviews before we got the stroller. Thought: if it works well in NY–can work great anywhere

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Both should have a complete recline but you can always confirm the stats on their website.

We almost bought the peg perego Pliko switch compact but I wasn’t very impressed with it’s construction in person and was very disappointed as it’s super cute. it didn’t feel very sturdy at all so I opted for the m&p sola instead.

The Vela looks fab, blushing rose!

She does very fair and thorough reviews of almost every stroller on the market.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

baby's here and we just set up the stroller yesterday. The Peg Perego does recline to about 20 degrees and is quite easy to maneuver and light.
