Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Time for another one? :hmmm:

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

sahar, the crib is way cute! and the changing table!
its gonna look SO crisp next to the yellow walls.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I just remembered something else. You may want to invest in a good, steam humidifier. I got the Vicks one. I did not realize it was something I would need. My son had a lot of mucus in him due to the delivery and was snoring. The humidifier helped getting that mucus out!! Plus, the steam helps him clear up any internal congestion too.

That's something I would highly recommend you register for.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^ Thanks for the idea, Mehnaz. I saw some really cute ones (one shaped like an elephant!) at the baby stores.

MaashaAllah how exciting! Now dont wait till the last minute to put the nursery together :D . I was in labor while my husband was putting the crib together and had the nerve to ask me for help while i was in the middle of contractions!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^ LOL. Did you smack him? :D

My brothers and hubby are painting this weekend (we'll need to get the crap out of the room first :D ). The crib and dresser will take 8-12 weeks to arrive, so we decided to go ahead and order it asap.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^Sahar post pic of the furniture that you ordered.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Here’s the set, but the crib is not this one (this one converts to a regular bed). We got the more standard crib because it looked sleeker in person, it’s still part of that line.

Here’s the Peyton crib we got, in white: http://www.bnocheckout.com/ProductImages/thrd_400000000444.jpg

We purchased it from Buy Buy Baby (shown in Chestnut in this photo): http://www.buybuybaby.com/babyFurnitureSets1.asp?order_num=-1&

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

its lovely sahar! man i loved nursery shopping... husband and i spent 3 months of intense searching and shopping.. but it took forever to put the nursery together.. even though i was overdue by 10 days, the room was still not done... i had no energy once my final triemrstr started.. so its best to get things done, like ira said, before u start ure final trimerst.. actually before u enter ure 8th month... depending on teh size of ure bellyl, ure ability to stand up for long periods of time is gonna be hugely affected.

so exciting.. i love the colors u have chosen for the nursery.. hope u have a easy and healthy delivery and baby . inshallah. :)

waise when are u due?

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^ I’m beginning to notice the swelling a little bit, I have a chubby face as it is, so there’s no escaping that. :bummer:

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

awww, Sahar, don’t worry. You’ll be ok, inshallah. Don’t fret about the weight gain.

I was looking at some of my photos, and I was so cute when I was in my second trimester. I don’t know what the hell happened in my third trimester, I was beyond huge. I was at a wedding 3 weeks before my due date and there was another woman at our table who was also due around the same time as me. I was double her size, literally. What a downer. :bummer: However, they let me in first place at the dinner buffet, then again during the dessert buffet. Being pregnant has its perks. :clown:

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

yes the last trimester has its surprises. mine was the same only the tummy area and couldn't even tell from my face that i was pregnant. but then 3 weeks before the due date i swelled up like a balloon. and got a lot of free food offered to me. which i accepted happily. I remember around the dd me and my husband went to kfc one day. after placing the order the manager informed us that he'll have to make everything fresh because of me awwww what a nice guy he was! Mmmmm I loved how i could eat anything and everything whenever i wanted to....but now :(

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

lol at you guys' third tri stories. All i remember is the horrible pelvic pain, walking like a duck, horribly swollen feet and sitting on an exercise ball since it hurt to sit on the couch/chair.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Any info/recommendations about crib mattresses? There's a huge variety I'm seeing and tons of difference in price. So confusing!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^ lol at your trash-inspired cravings story :P

in terms of mattress, go organic? thats all i know.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I was also uber confused so i just got one that said soy something one. So far Kanzah likes it fine and sleeps well on it.

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

I did find this info on Crib Mattresses: Crib mattresses 4/07

Looks like the key is to make sure yours fits well and is firm, regardless if it’s foam or spring.

SGC, the only organic ones I’m seeing are $400, which sounds like madness! Yours was soy, Ira?

I’m doing my registry at Target and BuyBuyBaby. BuyBuyBaby carries the following: buybuy BABY - Crib Mattress, Furniture

We were thinking of this, but haven’t gone to the store yet to confirm it’s okay: buybuy BABY - Fairytale Crib Mattress by Colgate

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

Sahar, i am sorry it wasnt soy, its soybean. Here is the one we have at walmart:

Walmart.com: Sealy Soybean Foam Core Crib Mattress, Eco Friendly: Bedding & Decor

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries

^ Thanks, Ira!

Re: Baby essentials, shopping, and registries
