i would like to know if a baby cot is needed immediately after birth. i mean
that the baby can sleep with the parents for first 2-3 months, so is it really essential so soon?
any suggestions?

Not needed but it's scary having the baby sleep between the parents since they can be smothered easily so it's better to have them sleep in a cot to be on the safe side.
