Re: baby butterflies ...

You have many contraceptive options...if you just want to start something then condoms are the only thing you can "just start". Other then that I would suggest you consult a doctor as most of them are hormonal in some nature and will require presecriptions.

Also if you want to steer clear of hormonal options speak to your doctor about IUD's that don't use hormones.

Re: baby butterflies ...

in canada, we need prescriptions for birth control, so if you're here, you'll need to see a doctor. its also a good idea to see one so she can explain all your options and can start you off on a bcp if you want. and there are many different kinds of bcp's, so if one doesn't suit you, you can always go back and ask to try another.
you could also track when your periods start and end and when you ovulate using ovulation predictor kits/strips and then you'll know when NOT to have sex. that requires a bit of work but IMHO, as someone trying for a baby, this knowledge is* invaluable* and can only be of benefit to you.
its good to know how your body works and when it does what it does.

Re: baby butterflies ...

for "preventing" babies, you don't necessarily need to see a doctor (unless you're looking for birth control pills or an IUD). there is plenty of information on the internet, but if your hesitant about anything, go see a doctor and make yourself comfortable before going ahead with it.

Re: baby butterflies ...

for some odd reason, which is pretty clear after SGCs post, i've been writing down my start and end dates (for periods) for almost two years now ... well not so much the end dates lately ...
i guess i'll try looking into a pattern ... but i feel so frikkin uncomfortable going to someone and talking about it face to face :$ .. i can feel my face turning warm/red :(

Re: baby butterflies ...

^ is you doctor female? that might help versus discussing this stuff with a male doctor.

if you've been writing dates for that long then it should be easier to predict the length of your cycle, and based on that, your ovulation dates. then again, ovulation is different for every girl, so it might be a good idea to get some OPK's to monitor when that happens. they're super cheap if you order them online.

Re: baby butterflies ...

i dont really "have" a doctor ... the only doctor i visit is the one in the clinic which is assigned to me ... and then there are different doctors there ... whoever i get on my turn really ..

Re: baby butterflies ...

can you maybe make an appointment with a obgyn? that way you can speak with her freely about the different types of birth control there are, and the best option for you.

sounds like you don't have one specific doctor. almost like a walk in clinic, where you see whatever doctor is available to you.

Re: baby butterflies …

finally had a conversation with my mom … she says not to take any anti-conception tablets … cuz when i finally want to conceive, it can be very difficult, and then i’ll have to take tablets for being able to conceive perhaps ..
and that IUDs arent so trusting … so alwaaaaaaays use that plastic thing that we both dont like :hinna:

how true is it that anti-conception pills can make it difficult for you to conceive when u finally want to??

Re: baby butterflies ...

Hey hun- I still think you should go to a doctor and ask them any and all questions you have. They will advise you the best!! And even though you think it will be awkward and embarrassing .... remember that once you get pregnant you will have to go to a doctor all the time for checkups and all sort of questions will be asked of you! So might as well start now eh??? No harm in that!

When you go into your clinic, just make a point to ask for a female doctor. Always remember that this is their job and they are their to help you... not to embarrass you or make you feel uncomfortable :)

your health, age and regularity of your periods has more to do with how easily you conceive than the pill does.
if you’ve been having irregular periods before the pill, then you’ll most likely go back to irregulars after you’re off the pill (i.e. back to how it used to be) and if you are irregular then you are not ovulating regularly and hence you won’t be able to get preggo easily.
so. it has very little to do with the pill.
read this: Trying to Conceive: After Birth Control
this is what my doctor told me too and i trust her to know more about this than i do, so… yeah.

honestly, go see a doctor already! they’ll be able to answer all your questions.

Re: baby butterflies ...

Pulling out is a natural option but works ONLY if you're comfortable with taking chances.

Re: baby butterflies ...

The pill is the safest and best method of contraception.

Re: baby butterflies ...

get the coil inserted. mirena. there is a 5-year one and a 10-year one.

even if you decide you want a baby after only 4 weeks of wearing it, you can get it taken out.

Re: baby butterflies ...

well farah i had the same concern when i got married its been a yaer still we did not plan for a baby and may be you'll surpriise to know i dont visit any docter for this. my SIL strictly prohibited me to use any pills it seems they have no side effets but they really have.. there are many other safe ways.. sorry to be blunt use condoms this is the safe and long lasting way.. i am perfectly healthy and still no pregnency issues
