Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

So what’s the deal with the baby bottles?

My sisters tell me its better to use glass because babies spit up less and it prevents gas.

Is that correct?

Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

I don’t know anyone who uses or had used glass baby bottles lol :bummer:

I ebf my eldest so didn’t use any bottles with him, but with my twins, I used the playtex bottles that have the disposal liners…no problems with gassiness or spitting up at all

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

I use Dr.brown...no issues.

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

I use Playtex Ventaires- they were the only ones that didn't give him gas or cause spit ups. The others either had too fast a flow even with the slow nipple or he didn't like the shape of the nipple. Just wait until bubba is here and see if you even need to use bottles.

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

Don't know about spit up or gas. I used them as I prefer not to heat plastic, even the BPA-free kind, if it can be avoided.

We used Born Free glass bottles with no issues.

Doctors recommend glass bottles

i have mostly used glass bottles as i dont use plastic or heating anytbing, in my microwave. even my food.containers are glass. used plastic bottles only for travlling.

dr.browns glass bottles. loved em!

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

i used playtex ventaire.
glass vs plastic issue is related to BPA concerns and doesn't have anything to with colic.

I don’t use plastic containers in the microwave or for heating anything even if it’s the BPA free kind (like Khawa). I started my eldest on a bottle when she was 14 months and I used avent glass bottles. With the second one I might just skip bottles and get her on a sippy cup once she is 1 but if I do start bottles I’ll stick to avent natural glass ones. They were great.

These are the ones I used:

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

most of my friends who use glass bottles do it to avoid plastic as well. They're supposed to be BPA free but it's still plastic and it does degrade with heat. I personally stay away from plastic when it comes to food as much as I can. Other than heat even acidic foods can cause the plastic to degrade and leach into food.

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

I have never seen a glass milk bottle. Don't think I would use one as I would be too scared of it smashing. Can understand how it would be good due to BPA issues.

it isnt THAT fragile.. i mean it IS someting to be handled by a baby. hehe. :cb:

they are sitting there on the shelves in the baby section, right next to their plastic siblings.

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

I got Dr. Browns glass bottles in my baby shower long time ago.. never used them for two reasons.. 1. I thought they were a bit heavy to hold 2. my son never liked Dr. Browns bottles so we switched to tommee tippee and I dont know if they even make glass bottles. I never heated milk in the bottle in microwave.. as a baby, we used to use luke warm water with formula and once we switched to whole milk, I would warm up the milk for 15 secs in a cup and then pour in the bottle...and after a while he could care less and would just drink cold milk from fridge... no fuss :D

Avent bottles too. Dr. brown were a headache to clean. I quickly switched to easier avent after using Dr brown. Ain't no one got time fo that.
I never heated my kids' milk. They drink straight out of the fridge cold milk. Obviously they don't know any better and probably will not like warm.milk. Even with formula, I used room.temp water. Itnay nakhray nahi uttha sakhti thi, I did everything to make my life easier. No heating any bottle issue here.

Re: Baby Bottles: Glass versus Plastic

We had glass bottles that we got from pakistan as a gift but we never used them. I always feared that if baby hits on face....often my kids would sleep with bottle in their mouth and bottle would slip as they fall sleep and i fear hurting them. but glass bottle g8 and I took my sons bottle to pakistan (tommee tippeee) and within weeks they turned yellow maybe due to water in pakistan.
