My daughter is almost 3 weeks old and about 1 week ago she started getting tiny red pimples on her cheeks and a bit on the forhead and nose. She had such clear skin when she was born and she is such a gorgeous newborn MashAllah so I feel bad that she is getting baby acne.
Anyone else had a baby with the same problem?
How long did it take for it to go away? Any tips for what I can do to make it go away faster?
Right now I am just washing her face with fragrance free dove soap once a day. I do not put any creams or anything on her face.
our paed said it happens because of lack of moisture on the skin. she’s too young for you to be using any kind of soap cleanser on her face right now- if need be, use a washcloth soaked in plain, good ole water and wipe her face, and use moisturiser afterwards. once a day should be fine.
p,s: just because it says it’s fragrance free doesn’t automatically mean its gentle enough for a newborn babe
my pead suggested me mustela moisturiser (stelatopia) , my baby got all red aptches on her skin, this worked for me, she is almost 2 i am still using it, more over i mix mustela milky bath oil in her water for bathing.
My baby had this, it erupted literally overnight and was quite worrying. It does go away by itself though, just keep the skin clean with cool boiled water and cotton wool. It’s caused by hormones and it took around a couple of weeks to go away.
Khawa there is a Dove baby wash and it’s very gentle. My paed recommended it and I’ve been using it.
That being said, you should not use anything on a baby’s face and as others have mentioned, just wet a washcloth with warm water and gently wipe her face. The baby acne will go away on its own.
Khawateen - I asked two public health nurses whether it was safe to use dove soap on her face once a day and they said yes because it is a very mild soap.
Anyway, I’m going to try to lay off the dove soap and just see if it clears on its own.
^ i guess khawa’s point is not just that dove might not be right but also that your baby is so wee, she really shouldn’t be having her face washed with cleansers at this point, or really, at all. its drying and her skin is so new she needs the moisture. plus there’s no way her skin needs the cleanliness- just use a plain washcloth and water combo for any messes you might see around her mouth after feeding. trust me, she’s not going to be dirty!
All of the kids in our family had them…they just go away on their own with some care. Their little tiny red bumps and look like pimples.
My sister makes sure not to rub the kids’ faces too much with anything…baby wipes, soap, lotion, etc. She keeps their faces clean and if their skin gets too dry then she will use some baby lotion or coconut oil but that’s it. Also, try not to let people kiss her face too much…as hard as that may be since they’re so beautiful Mashallah. That helps clear it up. Stop using fabric softener and just don’t let things irritate her skin. Should be fine.
