babies that die in infancy

Do they also need our prayers of peace and blessing after their death? I am asking this because recently someone that I came across said young babies that die still need our prayers of maghfirat and rehmat. Can anyone please enlighten me about it according to religious rulings please.

Re: babies that die in infancy

no. they go to paradise right away. no Hisaab kitaab...they are ma'soom [innocent] like ambiyaa-e-karaam.

not only they go to jannat, they will also be doing shifaa'at [intercede] for their parents and siblings on the day of Hashr. Allah will decide on their shifaa'at.

Re: babies that die in infancy

I'm guessing they need less of it as they're masoom.

Re: babies that die in infancy

But they still do, more or less, as per your guess?

they dont need any prayers. any child that died before hitting puberty is considered innocent...

this was how our masjid's imam answered the question.at the funeral of a 6 yr old.

Re: babies that die in infancy

Peace All

A slight note of caution ... if the rationale above was true then we should not need to send blessings on prophets or say Allah be pleased with them to the companions ...

It is the correct adab towards Allah (SWT) that we merely trust in the hope that the innocent will be saved, but we do not pass judgement as if we are pre-judging on behalf of Allah (SWT). For this reason we must supplicate out of adab or when we say that such and such people will be saved, we should add the phrase inshaAllah after it.

Re: babies that die in infancy

I remember reading a very long Hadith in which one portion showed what happened to children who died in infancy. Oh, here it is.

*Narrated Samura bin Jundub:

Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) very often used to ask his companions, “Did anyone of you see a dream?” So dreams would be narrated by to him by those whom Allah willed to relate.

One morning the Prophet said, “last night two persons (angels) came to me (in a dream) and woke me up and said to me, ‘Proceed!’ I set out with them [seeing many wonders]… till we reached a garden of deep green dense vegetation, having all sorts of spring colors. In the midst of the garden there was a very tall man, and I could hardly see his head because of his great height, and around him there were children in such large numbers as I have ever seen. I said to my companions, ‘Who is this?’ They replied, ‘Proceed! Proceed!’…I said to them, ‘I have seen many wonders tonight. What does all that mean which I have seen?’ They replied, “We will inform you: [and he was informed of all], and the tall man whom you saw in the garden is Ibrahim (AS) (Abraham), and the children around him are those who die on Al-Fitrah(Islamic Faith of Monotheism).’ ”

The narrator added: Some Muslims asked the Prophet (SAWS) “O Allah’s Messenger! What about the children of the Al-Mushrikun?” The Prophet replied, “And also the children of the Al-Mushrikun.” …(Sahih Al Bukhari Vol.9, Hadith No.171)

Allah has promised that the pen is lifted on children so I'm going to trust him on that.

*“The Pen has been lifted from three: from the sleeper until he awakens, from the child until he reaches puberty and from the insane person until he comes to his senses — or until he comes round.” Narrated by Abu Dawood (4403), al-Nasaa’i (3432) and Ibn Maajah (2041). *
