I saw snippets of this one, while doing some other work. Haven’t seen the whole thing or even the ending (I am sure it will be a nice sappy ending like all such flicks), but one thing I will say… looking at stuff like that should make us appreciate our parents and make us do more to make their aging years better by our love and support.
I think the story-line would be very similar to a movie from yester-years, called Awtaar (complete with an adopted son too).
yaasir bhai.. I would, but I don't have patience to sit through endless dialogue-baazi, song-baazi and overly dramatic acting.
I'll try, but usually I get the gist of movie from someone who has seen it. This one actually looked good. Not sure if it is really worth the 3 hours it demands.
faisal bhia.. u wont believe it.. this is exactly what happened in one of the family in pak.unfortunately i know em too… and guess what… their father wasnt that strong enough to hold it for longer time… he eventually died after being seperate from his wife for more than 4 months… and after 3 yrs his wife died too.. on ke baitay kaafi rich thay liakin pata nai.. kyon on ki begum ghar ka sara kaam apni mother in law say karwaya karti thi
and i cant believe it.. kis kisam ki aulaad hoty hian jo apni maan baap ko apnay hi aankhoan ke samnay jaan boojh kar taqleeef daitay hian…
yeh bhi nahi sochtay ke jo aaj wo karhaya hian kal ko on ki aulaad bhi on ke saath aisa karsecty hia
Uh oh, Karinaji - Getting emotional over an overly exaggerated idiotic family drama ??
Only part I liked about this movie was the Holy Song. the love story between the Buddhas was annoying and boring. I hated the telephone Song ‘MeiN yahaN..’ . The adopted son landing directly from Amrika and opening a Ford Dealership and then sitting whole night in his parents bedroom and then having their photo with his gods and doing their pooja and Aarti made me throw up.
Ugh - why do these directors need to give the audience such a heavy dose of Emotions ??
I was so disgusted with this movie that I went and rented Satte-pe-Satta again to makeup for this pathetic movie (which I was forced to sit throughout with all the sobs both on the screen and off it ).
Asif bhai, I wasn't talking of the movie. I haven't seen it don't intend to. Especially after your review, ugh. I was talking of proudpakistani's story of mean people. Don't you hate people who treat others so badly?
I notice the same thing.. but i think the movie was really touchin. and having salman in it.. makes it.. so perfect.. i cried during the movie.. i mean I DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF PPL DO THIS TO THERE PARENTS.. and as you guys are sayin things are happenin to family.. i guess people.. ARE adopting WESTERN style.. and i think we should b ashame for aur selves..

Same kind of people who can win over 100 people single handedly, Jump from a 100 story building without a single scratch, people who come alive after being hit by 100 bullets.

Asif bhai this kind of stuff does happen in India and Pakistan...there is no question about it.

For me, this was the one movie I wanted to watch this year...
Faisal mentioned Autaar and that's the same thought I had in mind as soon as I started watching this one. Autaar was brilliant with Rajesh Khanna and Baaghbaan isn't bad either - except the certain really exaggerated parts... the one with Salman & Mahima worshipping the pictures of parents is in there but I took it as symbolism of gratitude and love towards one's parents.
I gave the movie a thumbs up! but then again I was positively predisposed to Amitabh's presence in the movie.
Asif,
Satte-pe-satta is a masterpiece! I got so many childhood stories about that movie and me and my brother fighting and breaking stuff at home after watching it - btw, what is it they say in there... "chainkurleekimainkurleekichain" :)
