Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
I met Saqlain in Manchester while he came in for Nusrat of Jammat which included Saeed Anwar and JJ. I asked him how are his kness and chances of coming back. He said that he has started training again and see if able to make a come back.
Azhar I presume played this county season.
Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
Azhar played for Surrey this past cricket season, Mushy bhai was running havoc while playing for Sussex. Azhar had another good season of county cricket.

Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
They are both history now. It's unlikely they will ever play for Pakistan again. Razzaq's better than Azhar in ODIs any day plus now we have Danesh in tests and Abdur Rehman in ODIs.
Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
^ saqlain was a genius...
If he can come back...it would be a miracle worth watching...
I luv'd his bowling...
pure genius...

Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
Saqlain Mushtaq,what a sad story!
He took over 50 wickets in 2002 in test matches and after that he just played in 3 more tests and his career was ended.Even Fastest 100 and 200 in ODI,s could,nt help him,
He certainly had past his best but certainly deserved a few more chances specially even if a joke like Sami can play 28 tests in this side then what was wrong with Saqlain,
I know they can play only one spinner at a time but Danish Kaneria too although has a few effective performances on his credit but basically has not performed to that level which was expected of him once. even this year his Bowling average was over 40 and if u exclude his record against BD he has got even worse strike rate and average than Afridi.I,m not against his inclusion in the side but he certainly needs to step up his performances.
I still hope Saqlain is able to make a come back atleast once.
Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
Saqlain is only 29y 350 days old. I think if he gets recover, he will still be a good prospect for Pakistan. As a spinner he could go for 10 more years, look at Shane Warne, Kimbli.
Lets hope he gets recover before he gets UK citizenship. In that case, English could ride on the back of immigrants/their generations in Kevin, Monty, Saqlain and Sajid Mehmood.

Yes he is still young for a spinner and if chacha Arshad can get selected for Pakistan at his age than I can't see why Saqlain can't; he is much better spinner than him.
Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
Saqlain was just awesome.
Everyone goes through rough patches, and for a stable player of his calibre, he shoud have been given more chances.
I personally feel Saqlain was always the second best spinner in the world after Warne. But now that Murali has taken that spot.
Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
Yes it is so sad and thoughtprovoking the guy who gave off spin bowling the new delivery "Dossra " is out of cricket scene.
At one stage in past he was considerded the best off spinner by all experts of crickets. It is the PCB fault how did not encourage the cricketers in the declining and hard time.
Re: Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq?
^ Once most players began to play his "doosra" he became a very ordinary bowler, hence his decline.
