What passes through your mind when you hear the azaan?
I always feel meditative, thankful to Allah mian and His Prophet (PBUH) for bringing me into this world and for making me wake up each morning to a new day.

Yes, but when 20 odd molvis recite the words at their own times in their own tunes trying to sound louder than the rest using what they used to call the satanic tool, the whole thing seriously starts to lose its spirituality.
One one hand people find the azan an unexplainably beautiful experience, on the other hand, the penal code of Pakistan suggests a sentence of 3 years plus a fine for the people belonging to one particular religious sect if they recite the azan!
Sweetypie, you need to be the minister of religious affairs in Pakistan!
When I hear azaan.....it reminds me of my Lord Allah swt. Its also reminds me of grave too.
pagal insaan....would sikhs allow hindus to call guru nanak one of their gods ? No right. they are two different religion. One would not like if others try to use its significant figures for their own propagenda. One has to adhere the complete teaching of a religion and believe in em.
Same is for that particular sect. They are non-muslim according to the Quran and Hadith. The majority of Islamic world also call them non-believer. If they wanna be something else....yes they will have full rights to do whatever they want to. But hijacking others religion is not acceptable. Pakistan is unfortunate to host such parasites.

IMHO one of the most beautiful sounds on earth. There is nothing like hearing the Azaan while you are outside, with the loud call of the Muezzin echoing around you. Tranquil but humbling feeling.
Its the most beautiful feelings when you hear the azan. Translate the meaning of the words and sometimes it could bring tears to your eyes.
When azan is being said, one should repeat the words of the azan quietly after the mouazzin and for the words hayya alas salaat and hayya alal falah say the words la hawl wala qoowata illa billa hil aleeul azeem(please forgive my spellings - Most of you'll should get the arabic equivalent of that - I hope).

That's the reply i was trying to give in my post but i failed. Nicely stated my friend.
yeah the sound of Azaan is beautiful, makes me feel realy calm and chilled out, I enjoy listening to it even when there are loads of Muezzin's saying it at the same time, like they do in Pakistan. Here in England we hardly ever get to hear the Azaan except in the big cities where there's large Muslim populations.

The example you used was pretty confusing:
1- If hindus praise guru-nanak and follow his teachings and ways, the sikhs would be really proud. Thats how people from all religious beliefs are. They take pride when people praise and follow the ways of their religion. If a christian decidedsto start following prophet Mohammad and pray five times a day, will any muslim stop him by force?
2- The difference between ahmedis and muslims is not as easy as that between sikhs and hindus. You say that ahmedis are 'kafirs' according to the koran and hadees. They on the other hand prove that they are the true belief using the same Koran and same Hadees. While a lot of people believe in you, several hundred thousand believe in them too. You aremaking it sound easier than it is.
3- Can you narrate any verse from the holy koran which orders or advises muslims to protect the practices of Islam from non muslims? Is there any incident in the life of the prophet here a certain group of people was disallowed to recite the Azaan. The 'munafiqeen' are an example of people that are kafir according to the koran and the hadees. Did the prophet ever stop them from praying or reciting azan?
I have a question to everybody here, everybody who enjoy the spiritual pleasure out of Azan:
If a non muslim recites the Azan i.e. he says 'I bear witness there is no god but Allah! I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of allah' will that offend you, or will that make you proud?
I am sorry but you don't seem to have knowledge about religions. Do you know what is the current conflct between Hindus and Sikhs these days, religiously????? No, right. I tell you......the guru nanuk taught to worship one God. He was a monothesist, he never liked the idol worship as Hindus do. If I am wrong, ask a sikh. Some decades ago the Hindus probed into sikhism and started worshiping in their own way. The started placing idols in gurdwaras. Now if you goto gurdwaras you will find some of them have no idols and may be some pics of gurus...but some of them have idols and people worshiping them as Hindus do.
This is called hijacking of a religion by entering into it from the back door. If they wanted they could use a new religion's name, but not sikhism in the name of guru nanuk. This is like spoiling the religion. Sikhs are mad on this since lots of people from sikh community have started following idol worshiping. Hindus have no right to use guru nanuk's name to promote idolism and weaken the fundamentals of sikhism. My argument finishes here as you must have got my point.
If a christians start saying Adhaan in the church, FYI, Muslims will not be glad dear, they will be upset rather. Because its a joke with others' religion. With shirk in heart (i.e. Jesus as God) they cannot say Allah O' Akbar....since Allah is not Jesus. Got it. This point can be understood by a 5 year old kid.
Please come to the threads open for Qadianis and you will get lots information there on why they are non-muslim. You can ask questions and aruge there. This thread should be left for the heavenly spritual feelings of ADHAAN. Allah O' Akbar!!!!!!
May Allah showers His blessing on all of us. Ameen!
"time to go for prayer, so lets drop everything and get ready to hit a few sajdahs" is what goes through mind and at times "time for a break from this freaky dunya"

Where have we heard this before - guys?
"Listen to me. I - only know the truth."
All this smooth has done is SUGGEST that his God is better than others the other names used to know God.
I guess he and the likes of him are best proof of the 'quality' of his deen.
What he is doing is spreading - INTOLERANCE and Hate against christians & hindus and others - all in a very short post of his.
WAKE UP brother sunnis! What will you do when a billion plus wake up and demand answers?
By the way since this a thread about Azaan, I would like to give a link to azaan software. It is http://IslamicFinder.org. This is a free download. All you have to do is to download it, install it and finally add your country and city. Once your’e done with all that, then all you have to do is to leave your computer on and you can hear azaan 5 times a day from makkah, madina or al-aqsa. Internet connection is only needed for the downloading part. You do not need an internet connection after you have downloaded the software.

Thanks!

the persons you should be worried who really hijacked islam is people like osama who did more damage to islam than ahamadis or other sects.
Azaan is an awesome thing, folks. All non-muslims and pseudo-muslims who disagree…please leave this thread. Thanks in advance.

I agree. But that doesn't mean that one can leave his religion so the wolves can come and tear it off.
Everyone has full right to believe in whatever they want. And so do Ahmediz. They can use name whatever they want and believe in whatever they like. But they should not use the name of ISLAM for their believes, because their believes conflict with Islam's basic teaching. Why this point is so hard to understand???? They wanna call themselves Ahmediz..fine...we have no problem with that...but using Islam's label and telling the world that their teachings are the true Islam is ofcourse unaccpebtable.
Islam teaches peace and tolerance. Defending your own religion and believes in not intolerance in any religion. Giving examples from other religion is not disrespect but just for the sake of example. Do not misguide others.

Say rvikz,
Actually - the REVERSE is the truth. Islam has been destroyed by the sunnis by alowing the wahabis to usurp the leadership!
The sunnis or the 12'er shias are not the custodian of Islam. Nobody has to follow their bankrupt teachings and we need more of the ahmedias and submitters.

The WOVES that you refer to are none other than ourselves - RADICAL sunnis & Wahabis.
And, in the end - we WILL pay the ultimate price. No doma that preaches OPEN intolerance can be sustained or be allowed to sustain. To associate Allah with such dogma is a joke!
No one can FORCE the sunnis to remain sunnis - Fatwa of DEATH or not!
The threats to keep one in check can only work for so long. People like you and what you PREACH will ultimately pay the price because TRUTH always wins in the end.
YOUR time has run out!
Smooth Guy, you are true, I do not have any knowledge whatsoever on religion and theology. You sound like a learned person. Can you please quote where you got the information about Hindus and Sikhs from? Can you please quote any Sikh saying that? I have not ever read about this issue which you refer to as the 'current conflict' but that is due to my lack of knowledge and poor reading. Please give some reference to articles or books where I can read more about this issue.
